      cant WILD

I do the one when you watch your thoughts as you fall asleep. If I try hard I cant fall asleep even after an hour. If I am relaxed I jsut fall asleep. I cant seem to find a balance between the two. I cant WILD but I dont want to give up. Is there anything I can do?

How long have you been trying? Do you try after 5-7 hours of previous sleep? (WBTB) Do you consume any drugs / caffeine before bed?

Sometimes it takes a while to master

Sometimes it just might not be the technique for you

Don't give up, and remember a positive attitude (I CAN WILD, not can't!) goes a long way

      Good luck

      Ooh, their breath is warm
      And they smell like sleep
And they say they take me home
      Like poppies heavy with seed
They take me deeper and deeper

Been trying for 2 weeks. I do it after 5.5 hours sleep or 6 or sometimes 6.5. Only the drugs for my schizophrenia are used, which cause sleepiness.

If you can't fall asleep, then you're not WILDing. WILD takes place during sleep, not sitting in bed awake. Read mzzkc's WILD guides (any of them!) to learn the fundamentals. Stay away from all other guides until you successfully WILD.

Now, if you need to get an idea of the mental space you're trying to get to, you might try a DEILD instead. DEILD is just a WILD where you get to use the partial REM state you're already in when you first wake up from a dream. It can be easier than WILD from full awake.

EDIT: On second thought, if you have schizophrenia you should probably not lucid dream. Your meds may be making it impossible if the dose is high enough, and even if it was possible, being lucid is a *highly* altered state...

Ok, sounds like youre doing it at the right time. Your drugs may have an effect, but I would suggest keep trying. Some people take months to master it - be positive!

It is hard to do I think, and I've failed more then I've succeeded, but you will get there!

You need to be awake to start the WILD, no? After sleeping for several hours and waking up

Sleep isn't exactly a black and white thing. For a good few minutes after waking up from REM, parts of the brain can remain in a state where they're still sort of "asleep", yet you regain consciousness instantly (usually). This creates a window of time when you're conscious yet asleep, in a certain sense of the word.

So, I mean like when I WBTB, I get up, go the toilet, get a drink etc - I'm pretty awake during this time. I might be sleepy, but I'm not asleep. That's what I meant.

Well I guess it depends on where you draw the line. I suppose the DEILD label only applies if you don't even get out of bed or open your eyes.

Yeah, I think DEILD works by not moving / opening your eyes after a dream, so your brain still thinks youre sleeping and goes back into a dream, but you remain awake and so have a lucid dream (hopefully lol)
