      Question Stuck :\

I have known about Lucid Dreaming for 8 months now, been practicing on and off, I have had 8 LD's so far.
Every time I try WILD. I lay for 30 minutes to an hour and I'll be lucky to get a feeling of being lifted up or SP setting in. Then 3 seconds later its gone!

This happens every time. I have even lay for 1 hour and had nothing happen. Is this part of the learning curve or is there something I can do to help?

I have had two SP's happen to me randomly in the middle of the night, I woke up in SP while it was just setting in so I went into a dream like 5 seconds later, was amazing.

So I know what It feels like, what is going wrong?
Im getting a little sad tbh haha.

      TL;DR:
Lay for 45min to and hour. Not much happens. If Lucky I get a feeling of being lifted up or a rush then fades 3 seconds later. Am I close or doing something wrong?

      Thanks!

      Hey Skalm,

Honestly, it sounds like you're on the right track already for WILD. But before I get into anymore on WILDs, have you read any of Sageous's words of WILD wisdom? http://www.dreamviews.com/f156/wild-...p-part-131815/

      There's more but that's a good start.

To add to Ophelia's question...what time are you attempting WILD?

Are you attempting it right when you go to bed at night?

Sorry for late reply, was sleeping .
I try at night, so around 3-4 AM.
So I make sure I get at least 4-5 hours of sleep before I try WILD.
I have tried at different times, like after 2 hours but still nothing.
I have tried during a nap but I just NEVER dream during a nap, at least, yet.

I'm gonna check out that link, thanks!

Have you tried meditating before sleep to relax your body and get your brain ready for theta mode? This helps a lot when it comes to the WILD method. Its all about relaxation while keeping your mind conscious. What makes this technique so hard is relaxing your body while trying to find the right level of consciousness so you can enter a dream without waking up or drifting off. Good luck!

I have been practicing Meditation, I do have to make it a habit for everyday. Problem is my household is too loud, and I live close to a town, I guess I could get ear plugs.
I go to a class every Monday for meditation. I'm also thinking about getting into Yoga, so I can sit for an hour and Meditate, or WILD.
I find my body can usually relax pretty well, last night I tried and got super relaxed, it was awesome. The damn cat was making too much noise though so I just went back to sleep.

I have yet to completely WILD, but I did get the feeling people explain just yesterday. As for the loudness, if practiced enough I believe people can learn to shut out noises. The brain automatically shuts out certain sounds after so many are being listened to. I got so relaxed one night listening to my meditation music before bed, that I would notice moments where I didn't hear anything. If you could achieve this, it could help greatly. I hope I helped.
      Happy Dreaming!

Noises can be adjusted to. I live in the middle of a large city and there are traintracks less than a mile from my house. The train horn can be heard regularly, especially at night, yet I sleep through it. I also can sleep through the siren on the trucks from the nearby fire-station (most of the time).

Household noises aren't as easy to adjust to but it can be learned.

Let me illustrate my WILD attempts with my sleep schedule.

I have two kids. During the school year I tend to stay up late and wake up early, usually resulting in 4 to 6.5 hours of sleep. After I get them to school I typically go back to sleep, usually in the living room chair. I will sleep for anywhere from 60 minutes to 2.5 hours. This works well for WILD as I'm in a different spot than bed and the light coming in the window is different. These factors increase my awareness while not impacting how tired I am from the short sleep periods.

This works well for the weekend also because I have spent most of the week with short sleep periods and my body is ready to sleep a bit longer on Saturday morning. I try to sleep late but it doesn't always work because my kids still wake up early and people in my neighborhood like to to yard or remodeling work on the weekend. The noise helps me maintain awareness but I am still tired from the short sleep periods during the week.

This illustrates my sleep schedule during the school year and how certain noise influences help me maintain awareness for WILD. I wake up after a short sleep period and when I go back to sleep (very tired) I still have enough awareness to carry me into the dream. White noise like fans or wave sounds would only lull me to sleep and my WILD would fail. The same goes for relaxing sounds.

      Best of luck!

I guess some have it harder than me haha.
I'll learn to adjust to it while trying to WILD, I thought any noise usually ruins the attempt.
As for the 3 seconds of SP Im hoping practice will fix that, its really annoying to lay for 45 minutes only to have 3 seconds of SP then nothing, because usually after that I can't recreate the feeling for that night.

      Thanks

Another question...do you experience trouble falling asleep whether you attempt a LD or not?
