      First wild

Hello everyone I'm a newbie here
Please bear with the short intro, I'll get to my point soon. *
I'm 19 (female) and have known about lucid dreaming for years and have always been fascinated in it but never achieved anything, and never really tried. A couple of years ago though I had my first experience of SP. It was terrifying. I had the full works, noises, scary figures, vibrations, nausea, I actually thought I was dying. I had another soon after but it was completely the opposite, very chilled out, and short so I wasn't worried.

I looked up SP and learned about how to lucid dream through it, but I never had it again to try it, until now. See, I've been sleeping polyphasic for the last few months to get more time, and as my sleeping has stabilized I've noticed a ridiculous amount of SP and semi-lucid dreams happening, especially when I nap around 6:45am. They've always been really mild and non-threatening and from researching it extensively before I knew to just wait them out calmly. They've been happening so much though that I've decided to try and get back into experimenting with them by just letting it happen naturally when I nap and working on the techniques as and*when they come.

Ok, so for the main point. Earlier today I went to have a nap, and I had my first wild. Except it was a little weird. Before the wild I think I was already asleep, but I was half conscious. Then I remember becoming conscious suddenly, but before I had chance to move that heavy wave of SP washed over me. Then I could feel my eyes flickering really fast. There was no noise but by god the vibration. I felt like there was a power drill inside me, everything was so intense. I remember thinking "It's a freaking good thing I'm paralyzed otherwise I'd fly out of my bed." I could also feel my spirit body rolling around on the bed at the same time (this has happened a few times before).

First I decided to use it to try lucid dreaming, as it's not something I've successfully done before. (I always wanted to travel on the TARDIS in Doctor Who lol) So I focused on that image in my head, and I saw the vortex with the TARDIS flying around in it, but it wasn't very clear, it was all hazy, almost like hypnogogia. Why is that? Also, I still had the vibrations which were too distracting, so I gave up trying to dream.*

I decided to try an OBE instead. As soon as I thought this the space around me shifted till I was in my room. My spirit body was rolling around and my nerves felt like they were on fire from all the vibrating. I started by trying to stop myself from rolling around which worked, then I tried getting out of my body. At first I was fighting against my physical body (Done that enough times to know this.) So I changed my technique and tried projecting my consciousness above me and pulling up on an imaginary rope. I managed to get my legs out first and then my arms, but my stomach(center of the spirit) was stuck. I was struggling to get out completely and then I started seeing shadows on my ceiling and walls, stalking me. Because I've had more good SP experiences than bad, they creeped me out but I just ignored them. Then one shadow woman appeared in front of me, right on my stomach where I was trying to get out.

Then I awoke in a false awakening. I never completely got out, and the shadows were slightly disturbing but I took it as a sign that I was close. Then I awoke in real life.

So, why was my dream all hazy? And what could I have done differently? And what on earth were those vibrations? Was I close or what? ._.

Cool experience and congratulations = D

I am not sure about the vibrations I always do a WILD attempt while going to bed in the evening, not because I expect the WILD to actually work but because I think it's fun to practice and that I also end up having more vivid dreams to become aware naturally in later. And even though I know science is telling me that it's impossible to enter REM and therefore dream naturally and vivid, I have had some pretty vivid experiences. But what I do know is that vibrations doesn't always mean that your in sleep paralysis etc. but it's just your body's relaxation sensations.
I have felt heavy vibrations and also my head feeling like it's going to burn up and petrifying sensations in my body, without anything happening, even though I am almost completely in my daydream and not moving a muscle. So you can't relay on your body's sensations completely.

Since you seem very spiritual (I am 50/ 50) I'll try to explain it with a spiritual explanation as well.
I have got some help from an more experienced astral traveler than me, and she said that every daydream every thought is a glimpse of the astral, think of it like a radio frequency that you need to tune into. When you feel that the dream is hazy and kind of vivid you have actually found that focus and frequency, but you are still partly in another (the physical) and because of that you have to put more awareness and attention in the other frequency, by pretending that you are already there and by doing what you normally would do to stabilize and maintain the dream you can get fully transitioned.

A scientific explanation is far simpler, but it's flawed... Your not in REM and therefore you can't enter the dream vividly. But many of my friends knows how to astral project/ OOBE with just changing their focus of awareness, so I don't personally believe that REM is our answer to vivid dreams.

I hope this help you somewhat =) Good luck!
