      DEILD questions

So I'm a little confused. A week ago, after my sixth lucid dream, I decided to really go for a DEILD, as it got me my fifth and sixth lucid dream in the space of three nights. I was excited, seeing as I seemed to be able to do it really well. So I got an alarm app for my iPod that would wake me up twice a night, and I didn't have to turn it off. Also during the day, I would have a mantra that I changed each day, but would help me with a DEILD, like 'I wake from every dream' or 'I lay still after every dream'
After two days however, my normal dream recall plummeted. I went from on average of three or four dreams a night to one if I was lucky. Also, I no longer woke to my iPod alarm, even though i started it at half value, and then turned it to full, it didn't help.
Mg biggest success with lucid dreaming during this entire week was on Saturday, when I tried WILD about four times. Two of the times i half succeeded. For instance, I would see a burst of color before I fell into a dream, and then my dad 'woke' me, saying that he was sorry he knocked my unconscious. For whatever reason, I would believe it and lose lucidity. That hadn't happened to me before, losing lucidity once I had it.
So I'm very confused at this point. I was doing VERY well before this, where I was confident I could lucid once out of every five nights, and keep going by DEILD chaining. But I don't know what happened. Is this normal when trying to DEILD?
Forgot to mention, I was still doing RCs and everything else. Also in my last lucid dream, I found my dream guide, and I REALLY want to have a conversation with him again.

It's normal to have fluctuations in LDs and in recall.

But for the moment, I would stop with the alarm and go back to what you were doing when you had all those LDs. BTW, are you still excited about the whole LDing thing? It's important to have intent and be excited about it.

DEILD is a wonderfull technique. Keep using your mantra for it and be patient. Best time to DEILD is when you spontaneously wake up from a dream and you remember to not move. Alarms may work for some, but in general, they jolt you too much awake. Happy dreams

So I have a second question. Can the fluctuations come at any time? Is there any rhythm to them? I didn't know about the fluctuation until two weeks ago when my recall was zero, on the start of my second month of all of this. I didn't think it would happen again so quickly.

I'm very excited. I read about dream guides, and that night remembered to try to find mine near the end of my dream. I was thrilled when I found my dream guide, and am very excited to talk to him, as a connection to my inner self. I love the idea of it, that's why im more disappointed that this came up.

Alright. Thank you gab. This site has helped me like crazy since I started

I don't think there is a rhythm to fluctuation. But recall and having lucids can be influenced by many things, some so subtle, you don't even know. Like some stress, something that worries you, loosing your enthusiasm, not thinking about your dreams or LDing as much as you used to, new job, school, sleeping schedule, and tons of other things.

But worst thing you can do is to be disappointed. let your mind know, that you love your dreams, appreciate them, don't be affraid to say it to yourself. Your mind is listening, just tell it what you want.

You can also try to make a small change to your method. Like add a different RC, make a new mantra, add something else to you daytime awareness, change the time for WBTB. All this to keep you mind on her toes, so it doesn't become a rutine and to make it interesting.

Check out the DV Academy to see if there is a class you would like to attend.

But don't worry. If you are keeping a dream journal, your recall will be back in no time. Happy dreams
