Question I guess I did something wrong?

I went to bed last night at 11:30pm. And I woke up at 9:30am. I recalled like 5 dreams and wrote them down. Then I decided to do a WILD. There I was laying on my back waiting for sleep paralysis to kick in. After 10-15 minutes, I started feeling my hands and feet becoming completely numb. Then I just imagined the feeling of the sleep paralysis wave going over my entire body. Which sorta happened. I felt the 'SP wave' going from my hands to my shoulders and from my feet to my legs. Then it all just disappeared. Apart from the numbness. Ofcourse I was disappointed. But I was still laying there completely still and when nothing happened after 10 minutes or so, I just gave up. Does anyone know what I could be doing wrong? I'm going to try again tonight though, so if you got some tips that would be amazing.

I can see you sleep through your bedroom window. You're killing yourself with lucid dreaming.

I think it is one of those things where practice counts rather than doing anything really 'wrong' as such. However the one thing I will suggest to you is that you don't have to go looking for the 'so called' SP, or the (hypnagogic) sensations that may accompany your attempt, because not everyone gets them, so you don't need to chase them in order to (successfully) WILD.
I try and use an 'anchor' like breathing, or counting up to three whilst I'm relaxing, where I try to stay relatively focused. I would like to point out that WILD is not my way to LD as I'm still learning myself, although there are a few guides on here (eg: Sageous, etc.) that give some good tips, etc.
Another anchor is the sound of a fan, or white noise, etc. (You want your body to sort of fall 'asleep' whilst your mind is still sort of aware, hence the 'anchor'. until the last moment, etc.)

To summarise - main point: Don't worry about (so called) SP.
The other thing might be that you might have been trying too hard, or been a bit too alert?

      P.S: Good recall BTW.

I agree with UToo. Also, it could also be because of the time. You slept at 11:30 pm and attempted your WILD at 9:30 am. That's 10 hours. I am not sure how exactly the REM cycles work, but it might be better to do it 5-6 hours into your sleep, unless you already found out your optimum sleep cycles which reach up to 10 hours >.>

      good luck

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

WILD is not easy to pull off. It takes a lots of tries. Even then, every attempt will most likely be different than the one before. But to understand the basics, I recommend WILD by Sageous. It will tell you the whole process in great detail.

And don't think of it as you did something wrong. Sometimes you do everything right, but it just doesn't happen anyway. Keep practicing to get yourself familiar with the process and read about peoples experiences so you not surprised by some sensation and you will be able to keep your cool.

SP is when you can't move no matter what. Usually you also feel a threatening presence while in SP. Most of the people don't feel the SP, because it happens way after we fall asleep, even while we WILD. If you don't get SP when falling asleep normally, you will not get it when WILDing.

What peoplecall SP by mistake is actually sensations and hallucinations of a normal falling asleep process. You can feel your body relaxing, getting lighter or heavier, all kinds of movements (like in a hammock, on a water bed, turning paralel to your bed, falling through mattress, flying through space, being twisted or destorted) or you can hear different sounds.

They are all normal and they mean, that you are getting closer. But they should be observed passively. Don't get excited about them or scared.

So just keep trying and I'm sure you'll succeed.

I was thinking about that aswell. I forgot to set my alarm at 6am so I tried it at 9.30am when I woke up naturally. Thanks

When I'm in SP, I just feel my body getting heavier. Then I feel the vibrations along with a falling sensation. So thank god I don't feel a threatening presence. I tried to WILD again 3 times last night. At 6am, 8am and 9am. I got actually pretty close with the one at 6am. But I lost consciousness because I was too tired. And with the other attempts, I just felt numbness throughout my entire body. But I'm gonna keep trying. Thanks for the guide btw

Let me put your mind at ease. You did not see a threatening presence because you were not in SP. And you are quite unlikely to be in one in the future. So enjoy your falling asleep sensations, they are an indicator, that you are getting close. But watch them only passively, don't scare them away
