It's not seen with your physical eyes, although it's not imagined either. It's the awareness of the subconscious mind and thereby already a part of a dream. Likewise a normal dream isn't imagined consciously right? You see it with your mind's eye but it's not consciously created by you.

You think with your mind's eye all the time, with just one sentence I will make you think with the mind's eye.
"Close your eyes and think of your kitchen" - don't you just sort of "see" something?

Although when you are WILDing random images can appear and they will be much more vivid and "real".
