It is almost impossible to achieve a successful WILD right after going to bed, your best time for achieving a WILD would be 4-6 hours after you have been sleeping. A successful WILD shouldn't take longer then 5-10 minutes, but although it differs for everyone. When your attempting a WILD it is important to refocus your attention on something other then the sensations you feel before the transition, a good technique can be counting in your head 1 I'm dreaming, 2 I'm dreaming, 3 I'm dreaming, and so on. This is known as anchor, as it de-attaches from the sensation of your body falling asleep but allows you to remain conscious awareness so during the transition you can precede into the lucid dream.
