From what I understand, you have to fight that urge just the same as fighting the reflex to rollover. It's just part of the process. |

Does anyone know how to stop the urge to swallow while trying to WILD? Like ill be laying in bed trying to be completely still and to not send back a rollover signal and then the urge to swallow comes. once that urge comes there's no stopping it. So does anyone know a way to keep that urge from happening? |

Yeah. By stopping worrying about it, to swallow while doing your attempt is only a bad thing when you worry about it. Because you are by then going to get nervous or stressed out over it and becuase of that you are not relaxing your body to your fullest potential. You both swallow and flick your eyes all the time when you sleep normally so why it would be a problem otherwise is a mystery to me. |
|
Its just sometimes the urge gets so bad that my body just automatically does it it without my say in it or not. Like it will just do it no matter what, It just gets kind of frustrating thats all |
|
It should not be frustrating. After all, you just trying to fall asleep, right? And it doesn't get frustrating, when you going to sleep normally, right? You should do it the same way. Swalloving is a reflex, you can't fight it. If you do, you point your attention to your body, and that's exactly where your attention should not be when WILDing. |
|
You are allowed to swallow! If you focus all your attention on not swallowing then you won't be able to WILD successfully. Just relax. Take a deep breathe. Like Gab said, don't focus on your physical body. You should be focusing on the dream you are about to go in or just be aware of your thoughts. You are basically just falling asleep like you normally would, just stay aware. Good luck! |

Sleep with your head slightly inclined so that your chin is closer to your chest, allowing the saliva to run down normally. Also you shouldn't be focusing on any part of your body, we want to lose focus of our physical self and surrounds. That doesn't mean you have to actively try not feel your body, just let it be without thinking about it. |

Just don't think about it, I had this problem for ages and I ignored it and now I never get the urge to swallow |
