Question FIRST LUCID DREAM!... Or was it?

So I might have had my first Lucid Dream, But I don't know what method it was and if it really was a Lucid Dream.

I woke up from sleeping and decided it might be a good time to try WILD. I've never attempted it before, but I've been reading many tutorials on it, and I felt like I might have had a chance.
I was a bit nervous, but also extremely anxious at the thought of having a LD. So I did the usual 'Relax and then don't move' Sort of thing. My first attempt got interrupted by my dog .
But for the second attempt my main problem was swallowing. Like I'd be just laying there perfectly fine not swallowing, and then think to myself (Damn I'm doing a good job not swallowing) and then BAM...

It also seems to sort of be automatic, like no matter what I did it would swallow, even if I had all my concentration on not doing so.

ANYWAYS Back to the main shindig, So I was feeling a bit scared in the sense that I would fail my WILD because of my swallowing, but I kept going. After some while I noticed weird sort of wave
patterns going across my eyes. I can't really explain it but from what I can remember they were just black and white.

And then after having that for a while, I must have fallen asleep or something because I honestly don't remember hearing any 'Noise' or seeing random shapes due to HI pop up.
And then I started to dream, and I saw myself in a mirror. But I noticed something strange.. My head only had patches of hair. And at this point I remember it feeling... sort of real, But I don't remember it as vividly as I guess you're meant to.
So after seeing my hair I was like "This can't be right" And I did my RC which is if I can put my fingers through my other hand. And well of course I could. I think I was really happy at this bit, but again I really don't remember much.
After that point I just somehow ended up on some stripy coloured island, orange and blue colour scheme I think. At this point the dream started to fade, so I did the hands/spinning trick and it actually worked.
Then from this point on it's more of just patches of memory that come into play, Like how I remember trying to fly but failing horribly.

Finally the lucid bit of my dream started to fade off, and even the hand/spinning trick wouldn't work.
And then after that it just transforms into a really odd dream, none of which I remember being particularly lucid.

So if you managed to read and understand that, Then I'm curious to know your opinion on the matter.
      My biggest concern is that it wasn't actually a lucid dream because;
      -Barely remember it
      -Not very Vivid
      -Couldn't control much
      -Didn't successfully do a WILD

Also any tips on swallowing + generally doing the "Don't move" Part of the wile would be appreciated

Sounds like you lost consciousness in the middle of the WILD, which would make this a DILD since the dream itself got you lucid. But RC failed you knew it was a dream = lucid.

How vivid are your normal dreams?
How much do you remember of normal dreams?
How many crazy things do you do in normal dreams? (For instance I control fire and use telekinesis in normal dreams all the time, so when I switched to LDing it was easy, if you haven't done that then practice practice)

Sounds like you need to stabilize and get better recall.

Let us not look over the main point here...

      1st LUCID! yay!

Oh! And don't move/swallowing is bull crap. It helps to not move, but you are really just trying to keep thinking whilst you fall asleep. Check out saegous tutorial (can't link I'm on my phone ) he explains everything. Or mancon tutorial. If you need help finding pm and I can send it later.

If you need to swallow, then swallow. Just don't think about it and lose track of what you are doing or make it keep you up.

Congratulations! It sounds like what you experienced was a DILD, since you found it out whilst in a dream. If you need help on Dream Control and Clarity, here: Dream Stabilization and Clarity Tutorial - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views <-- Is a useful link that helps with the bases. Also, as Brandon already said, it's best not to concern yourself with the swallowing, focusing on it only keeps your attention on your physical body.

And since Brandon might be busy at the moment, I'll go ahead and give you the links for,

Sageous: WILD (Sageous) (The guy covers everything! )

Also, if you haven't read this WILD technique I strongly suggest it, it's helped many people out and is a great start.

It's OK not to move, but if you get uncomfortable, you can change position. [/QUOTE]

You are allowed to swallow, scratch, change position. Again, it would be better if you didn't. But if it bothers you, or you think about and try hard not to and it makes you uncomfortable, than that will ruin your attempt.

So it's better to do it, without thinking about it at all. Same way, as when you falling asleep normally. If you get an itch, you just scratch it perhaps even without noticing it and definitelly not thinking, that it will stop you from falling asleep. And I bet you don't notice swallowing at all.

Any images you may see are probably HH (HI). But not everybody has the same thing, or not always, or even you may have different HH and sensations every time. So if you get/don't get some of them, it's ok.

      1. You need to get your dream recall in better shape by writing in a Dream journal.
      2. Some will be vivid, some not so much. You can make them better by getting higher daytime awareness
      3. You can have different degrees of control, or none at all.
      4. You got far in a WILD. And even if this was not it, it helped you get your DILD. You were in a dream when you realized something strange and that got you lucid.

And this is a link to tutorial (sageous) brandonboss was mentioning.

So congrats and get ready for your next one! Happy dreams
