      2 Questions after WILDing

      Hi,

In the past week I have tried WILDing a few times, 2 were in morning after sleeping 5-6 hours, and 2 were afternoon naps.

      1) Most of the time I reach a point that my toes start to twitch, and today it got to the point that my legs were shaking quite aggresively, and I think they physically really were shaking because I could feel the blanket move on my belly and was quite aware of my surroundings.
These + the fact that sometimes my muscles cramp, suddenly i feel my arm very tired and i'm putting an effort to relax it and then realize it held itself a bit in the air for a couple of minutes and got tired.
also I get my eyelids opening up a bit (i'm using a sleep mask on my eyes to ease that).
All these moving things: eyelids opening, legs shaking, muscles cramping - I can actively relax them but I don't know if it's taking me back a few steps or I should just roll with them and wait more?

      2) After 1 day trying to WILD twice, it really messed up my night afterwards O_O
I was having a hard time simply falling asleep because my mind was not letting go and remained consiounce like IT was trying to WILD!
When I did fall asleep I woke up at 2am and it took me about 2 hours to fall asleep again because i couldn't really sleep regularly, it's like WILDing took over me and it took an effort to just sleep.
      Any comments on that?

      Thanks in advance!

      Hey welcome to dreamviews
      1) you are trying to relax to hard, just try not to focus on your body and let yourself itch, or move if it happens. I know the feeling that you at first think you are vibrating or going numb but your actualy body is moving, well all I can say is that you are too tense.I had the problem too when I tried WILDing and I would sort of slightly tense my muscles to numb them, but now I just act as if I'm going to sleep. Do whatever it takes to become comfortable and don't worry about what your body is doing.

      2) Yes I have this sometimes because I keep thinking right beofre I fall asleep that I could try WILD. It's annoying because it's like you can't get into auto mode and you just have to wait there until you're tired. I can't help with that one other than get out of bed for ten or twenty minutes, maybe have walk, it helps sometimes.

I've been recently experimenting with the WILD technique also as I think it would be a much better tool for Lucid Dreaming than MILD for me. I've experienced both things that you have said above, but I found after a couple of attempts, it kind of calms down and you become less likely to open your eyes. I have yet to have a successful WILD but I am going to keep trying, although sometimes I just lay there and I feel myself go to the edge of consciousness about to transition then come straight back into feeling all of my senses, as if my body just can't get used to the idea of being unconscious. And when I do finally fall asleep, I usually lose concentration immediately and just sleep as I would normally.

Just keep combining WILD with WBTB and I'm sure we'll both master it soon

All those things you described in 1) are not helpful, nor are they even related to WILDing. You are focusing way too much on your physical self. Everything that is important to a WILD occurs mentally. Physically all you need to do is feel relaxed, comfortable, and ready to sleep.

Remember that your goal here is to fall asleep. I can't stress this enough. Learning to WILD is nothing more than learning how to remain conscious as you fall asleep. I know this sounds like a contradiction of terms, "conscious" and "asleep", but words aren't perfect. It is absolutely possible.

I don't mean any offense but it sounds like you have read some bad information and really don't know the first thing about what you're trying to do. These are the two best guides we have on this forum. Read them fully.

      Thanks for your replies!

      1) I know these things are not related to WILDing and have already read the guide you sent me, it's just something that happens to me.
As i'm relaxed in bed i just start to get these shakes and cramps, without actually DOING anything.

      2) dms11 It comes to the point I WISH i would just fall asleep.
Tonight I woke up twice at night (on my own) and logged a dream each time.
after the second time i tried to just fall asleep, not WILD,and I couldn't for 4 hours! (until i just got out of bed)
my conciounse was awake at all times and i kept feeling like when trying to WILD (when i did not in fact try to WILD), but couldn't fall asleep - and I didn't try to concentrate or anything.
I let myself think of random things and situations and just wished to sleep but couldn't.
I just let myself relax and think about nothing and everything - all that happened is that I had these shakes and stuff, for 4 hours... O_O

I wouldn't be irritated to fall asleep during WILDing, what disturbes me is that I don't fall asleep at all!

I think i'm going to stop trying WILDing completely.
my sleep is very important to me and the fact that it's the second time that i wake up at night and experience the same as when trying to WILD without actually trying it, that's really disturbing:
can't fall asleep because i'm constantly consciouse even though i'm just relaxed and not concentrated on anything in particular.

Don't know what to do, tonight was really bad =/

Try setting an alarm like 1 - 1.5 hours after you attempt to WILD and if you succeed, it will wake you up so you can remember your dream. If you don't, you know it's been 1.5 hours so you should just go to sleep and give up with WILD for the night.
