Change in sleeping schedule could be the problem, i once changed mine and had long dry spell until i changed it back, but might be not as well, really depends on many factors, other than that you might try changing the amount of time you stay awake for before the attempt as well as amount of activity, maybe you are just not getting awake enough? 
Also don't focus on entering SP unless you have sleep disorder with same name, you wont be able to, you just need to fall asleep while being aware, check out the tutorial gab posted if you aren't already.
