Tickly face syndrome. Are little imps and fairies teasing us?

Whenever I attempt WILDing (particularly when laying on my back) it's only a matter of time before I get an itch...or a tickle. I try to ignore it but sometimes I have to scratch or rub...and the mood is destroyed. Is it fairy folk...or is the body saying "noooo! don't go there! tis forbidden territory!"

Most likely you are just noticing things you normally don't really pay attention to and take care of without second thought. WILD works the best if you don't move much, but if you have something that's gonna bother you, you better take care of it gently, same way you would when falling asleep normally.

It only ruins the mood if you think so. Start an attempt with understanding, that you may need to scratch and swallow, or even adjust position if it becomes too uncomfortable. Allow yourself to do so while knowing, that if you don't pay attention to it while taking care of it, it may set you back only a few minutes, or even none.

Gab is right, it's just that you are noticing things that you wouldn't normally pay attention to. I have had the same problem as you do, so I have made it a happy to rub the palms of both hands over my face a few times before settling down. Up and down and around a bit, as if I'm washing my face. That takes care of the problem before it even arises. Maybe because I rub away any little fibres or dust that might be on my face - or just placebo, doesn't really matter. Give it a try.

Like said above, take care of that little itch. Doing so before it interferes with your sleep cycle will help you rest better and achieve lucid dreams easier.

Little itches and tickles are very common, and while they can be bothersome they can also help you realize that your body is closer to sleep.

If the itching ever becomes really bothersome (like severe and over large areas of the body at the same time) or occurs most often in the legs...that can be part of a sleep disorder. I know that isn't what you described but I'm sharing the info anyway.
