      Starting to uncontrollably snore?

I'm lying down face up, and I always start to uncontrollably snore and feel my breathing become automatic, I usually get uncomfortable and have to readjust, I feel very light afterwards. I also see some lights on occasion, but very rarely. (I have a sleep mask)

Am I on the right track? I feel like I should be seeing dreams at some point... but it never comes, am I just not waiting long enough?

laying on your back is not good for the throat path way, or something, google it. also depending on your bed springs, pillows, etc.

youre not on the right track, youre ALMOST dreaming and now youre SNORING, so.... two steps back?

but incase of the breathing becoming automatic and feeling very light, at this point you should turn onto your side, and maintain lucidity.

you wont fall asleep in that awkward snoring position. youd probably pass out after your body gave up waiting two hours for you to "dream"

WILD is not a waiting game, you don't need to wait, but rather, you need to fall asleep while keeping awareness, waiting usually only makes it harder to fall asleep. As for snoring, try different sleeping position, just be sure that it's comfortable and you can fall asleep in it.
Also when are you trying to WILD? If you are doing it when normally going to sleep, then it's unlikely to succeed, you have to do it in WBTB or nap, and if you are already doing it in WBTB/nap then maybe try different timing, it takes some experimenting to find a good time for WILD.
I recommend checking out this tutorial if you haven't already: WILD

When you notice change in your breathing, you are very likely already asleep. That's the first, ligh part of sleep. When you WILD, you go through it while still consious and you can even notice when your hearing turns from external into internal. And if you snore, well, then that's what you gonna hear.

You are free to adjust. Maybe you will not get uncomofortable, if you know that. But if you have to move, scratch, swallow, you can do all that, and just go back to what you have been doing.

You don't always get visual HH or dreamscenes. Sometimes you get a different clue that you are already asleep and near a dream. So waiting for something specific to happen is not the way to go.

Check out the tutorial scionox linked. It will explain the whole WILDing process in great detail.
