Lucid Dreaming - Is this it?

I had a semi-lucid dream today (one of my first! ) using the DEILD induction technique. Here's how it went:

I woke up after a dream and thought "ah well, let's try deild and see how it goes". After a minute or so of staying perfectly still, I was disappointed to see no HH or AH etc. But when I reality checked, I realized I was dreaming(breathing through your nose method)! Excited, I jumped out of my window and floated across the city.

This seems a rather exciting first-lucid-experience isn't it? But in this dream I felt disconnected from my dream, I couldn't really control my actions. Is this all lucid dreaming is about? If it isn't, does this dream suggest I'm close to having full fledged lucid dream or what? I'm dying for answers....

Anyways thanks for at least reading my hastily explained experience that I had!

That was a fine lucid dream. The thing is first you must get lucid, then you must develop skills over dozens of LDs. At first you may have short vague dreams in which you can not control things and the DCs are unhelpful. It is a learning process that takes time. Really cool tricks like teleport may take years to learn.
