Angry A Very Annoying Night of Attempted WILDs

So I attempted to WILD last night, and the results were frustrating to say the least. I had a lot of moments of awareness and RC's that were almost continual the day before and convincing myself I was going to get a lucid dream tonight. I set an alarm for 5 hours after I went to sleep, and everything seemed fine up til there. At first I found out I was trying to imagine the numbers in my head before I was relaxed, and I was also starving. So I got up, ate something then relaxed myself and tried to lie in bed longer and count again. Every position I seemed to get in seemed to be uncomfortable so I finally found some comfortable positions. At last I felt I was finally getting into sleep paralysis when my heart started beating extremely fast, probably because I've been waiting to do this for so long. I kept trying to keep my heart beat steady and get into sleep paralysis but I just couldnt fall asleep or control my breathing to control my heartrate. Then it took about another hour to finally get it going again, and just when I felt I was about to start entering my very first WILD, a light came on! i was just thinking whyyyyyyyy at that exact moment! It was my pet bearded dragons heat light that comes on at around 6 or 7 every morning. I just turned it off and went back to sleep and tried to wild again. Over the course of this entire time i was using a dehumidifier I got for my bearded dragon as a white noise machine because the crickets kept making noises. What I forgot is that when I dehumidify the room it actually increases the temperature, which was keeping me extremely awake. So I turned it off and took the magnetic strip off the vent in my room so I could blow cold air in, which apparently makes you sleepy.

Then once it was finally 8:30 I started feeling tired, but I had to get up for class at 9:30!!!!! Everything was extremely frustrating on top of the fact I was completely starving when I woke up which I have no idea why.

Most frustrating lucid dream attempt I have ever experienced, and it really ruined my motivation to do continual RC's throughout the day, and also it will be extremely harder to convince myself I'm going to lucid dream again. Any tips or suggestions to improve my WILD attempts that I didn't already take care of over the course of last night? I realize in Sageous' tutorial he says you aren't supposed to use an alarm clock, or is it ok?

I obviously need some tips to improve my WILD set up, I'm thinking I should first of all have my room be slightly chilly to induce the sleepiness, wake up at least 5 hours afterwards, maybe get a sleep mask and/or earplugs for when countless disturbances start happening at exactly all the perfect times to waste the maximum amount of my time. Is there anything else I can do to make me fall asleep faster or something I'm doing wrong?

This is almost exactly what I experience when doing wilds. Because of this I switched to the ssild technique and got lucid on my first try. The reason I like this technique is because after doing the cycles you can directly fall asleep as well as it seems to make me more tired than counting. If you can't seem to do a wild than I think the ssild method is your best option. Unfortunately I haven't got any sugestions about wilding other than Keeping a good sleeping schedule. Good luck!

Ok. I understand how you feel: this happened to me on my first WILD attempt and I haven't gotten anywhere near close since. Let me explain though; the goal of WILDing is not to get to sleep paralysis. Sleep paralysis is something that sometimes occurs while WILDing, but is not at all necessary for a successful WILD. What you are most likely experiencing is REM atonia.

I would 100% recommend sleep mask, I haven't tried ear buds yet. Just keep working on it, I'm sure you'll do fine.
