Trying to explore delta sleep, but can't seem to leave hypnagogia once I start.

So Sageous made a post about exploring delta which I thought was interesting, because the Tibetan monks did that. You have to WILD at the beginning of the night instead of WBTB. So I've been trying this, and its been pretty successful in getting into hypnagogia, but I can't seem to "exit" into a more stable phase of sleep. For example, last night I was in hypangogia hallucinating that I went upstairs.

But it was night time in the dream, and all the light switches didn't work so I had to rely on my sense of touch. I eventually got out of the house, but as soon as I was to the front door, the periodic vibrations came and destroyed the dreamscape leaving me in a floaty blackness. I then became aware of my body and I was forced to wake up because of some discomfort. How should I go about entering delta?

I believe the floaty blackness is a good sign; I think it means you've entered a stable part of NREM. As for whether or not it was delta, I can't say, but that "floaty blackness" is a sign of being aware during dreamless sleep. That sounds like great progress.

Sorry for double-posting, but I wanted to add that that is really cool that you are having some success WILDing before bed. I'm looking forward to conscious dreamless sleep, but don't think I have the serenity yet. I tried the other night and kept getting pulled into the hypnagogic imagery (basically about the pass out). Any tips on how to not do this?

That's quite nice, it seems you succeeded in having a lucid straight from bedtime. We usually experience a short period of light sleep before dropping off into deeper stages, so you just have to wait it out if that's the case. Also, what Threecat said about the blackness.

Bed time attempts are always so exiting, keep us posted!
