How can I use pain as an anchor?

I've recently been reading about WILD and I have read BillyBob's guide on how to, plus a few other guides on DV.

Last night I managed to get up to the point where I woke up 6 hours after sleeping, and relaxed my body for 5 minutes or so, but I had trouble setting up my pain anchor. I tried practising before going to bed initially to see which one would work, but I couldn't think of any!

If you want to know what pain might be best, I sleep on my side mostly, but I can sleep on my back too. I never sleep on my front.

If you use the pain anchor, what do you do for it? What do you think would be the best way for me to create pain?

      Thanks for any help guys!

Yes you can use the pain anchor, provided you don't do something stupid like BillyBob and cut yourself.
really you can use anything to WILD, just make sure it's safe.

If you want a good anchor there is one that sivason uses where he crosses his legs for the WILD...

Pain anchor? Hmmm, sounds like it will prevent you from disengaging from your body? I don't know anything about it, but perhaps some other anchors would make more sense.

Thank you for the idea about the pain anchor, and sivason, do you have any ideas of any other anchors I could use instead? Preferably anchors which are physical, and not mental, because I seem to have low willpower when it comes to staying focused on something mentally.

Also, I have a decent pain tolerance, so as long as the pain wasn't major, such as cutting myself with a knife, I think I could take it.

If you mostly sleep on your side, then simply sleeping flat on your back could work as it will be just enough uncomfortable to prevent you from forgeting that you are trying to WILD.
