      How can I WILD

I don't know what went wrong but I tried wild last night, I think I started to hallucinate (I had my eyes closed) I heard some music but I wasn't sure if it was like when you're remembering a song and it starts playing in your head. I saw colors and flashing lights and stayed perfectly still but WILD never seemed to come. Should I have my eyes closed?

The point of WILD is to go to sleep with some awareness, so yes, having your eyes closed would probably be the best. I don't know much about WILD but perhaps you had a false awakening without realising? It's possible.

I think, Sophia, that you might need to consider that there is more to a successful WILD than just laying down, holding still, and waiting. Also, WILD is simply the name for the transition from wake to sleep (and hopefully to dream) without losing waking-life self-awareness. It is really not about the noise (i.e., those flashing lights, that song, etc), which is just stuff you are witnessing on the way to WILD. There are other things.

I suggest you take a moment and look at DV's nice introduction to WILD, if you haven't already. If you are interested (or more ambitious) you could also try my own DVA WILD class, which covers that other stuff you might need to be doing.

And yes, it is a fine idea to close your eyes -- the plan, after all, is to go to sleep, right?

I would like to begin explaining the things that you could be doing wrong but I think the vast amount of tutorials here on DV are already excellent.

      Common mistakes:

-Doing WILD at bedtime (You should sleep 6 hours prior to beginning your WILD.)

-Focusing on HI (What do you want? HI or an LD, if you choose the latter then why focus on the other instead?)

-Attempting WILD too often and frequent (I give myself 1 chance per night.)

-Sleep (WILD is not just laying there chilling out, it's really FALLING ASLEEP as in you staying conscious of what's happening but suddenly everything goes black and you're floating in an empty void.)

      Good luck

Ok well I did watch some tutorials and I guess that they were not very good at all so thanks a bunch for your feedback!

^^ Maybe you watched the wrong tutorials?

Just because the ones you looked at weren't very good doesn't mean they are all no good... in my humble opinion, of course! It might be worth looking a bit further...
