Yes; Your brain is still in "sleep mode" so long as you don't move. If you move, your brain will awaken.

As for your mantras, you really need to believe in them. You don't say "I am going to such and such" without and honest intention of doing so. You need a meaningful mantra; meaningful to You. It can be "I reality check to see my passed father." Or "I lucid dream to relive my youth." Things like that which really make you want to lucid dream.

A lot of people might say that moving would ruin your chances of DEILDing successfully, but I don't know if that's necessarily true. For a long time before I ever joined dreamviews, I would have most of my lucid dreams from waking up then going pee then falling asleep and going straight into a lucid dream.

You can definitely still enter a dream while lucid after you move, the only thing that I've noticed from moving is that it makes it harder for me to fall straight back to sleep once I move but I'm sure that doesn't apply to everybody and I wouldn't go to the extreme of saying that your chances are ruined just because you moved.

I don't think that becoming lucid necessarily has to follow strict guidelines where we have to stick to rules set forth by different techniques or methods, there is wiggle room and we can do whatever we find works for us.

(Just to be clear though, I personally usually have a higher success rate of DEILD when I don't move upon waking)

^^ Same here. I've managed to extend the DEILD mindset and hang onto my last dream (and sleep) for a few minutes after waking and moving (including bathroom runs). I must add, though, that I am careful to keep my eyes closed -- or as closed as possible, if a walk to the bathroom is in order -- as this seems to help hold the mindset. That said, like AnotherDreamer, most of my successul DEILD's were of the "hold still" variety; that really is the best way to do it, because it's the best way to hold your body in physical sleep mode.

So: Since is indeed optimal (especially from a physiological standpoint) to hold still as you feel yourself waking, Saflint, hold still if you can, and keep those eyes closed, but should some movement happen, it will not necessarily cost you your DEILD.

One important bit: Thinking about that movement will disrupt your DEILD. Such thoughts both get in the way of your dream, and pull waking-life activity into the forefront. So try to ignore your movements; let your body roll over if it must without giving it any thought.

And remember, even if your DEILD fails, you still have a WILD that can be done.

I can only speak for myself here. Moving any at all and / or opening my eyes ruins my chance at a DEILD. If i move or get up to pee, I may or may not have an LD when going back to sleep, but it definitely would not be a DEILD. For me, not moving is a challenge with my back issues. I have conditioned myself over time to remember not to move and to resist the urge no matter how uncomfortable it is. I routinely have chains of DEILDs where I reenter the same dream multiple times. They are so overwelming some times that the process of entering the DEILD was better that he LD itself. I can be in a LD and do things that will typically wake me knowing that I can come right back after I awake.

Having said all that, I would suggest in your mantras or RCs remind your self to remain still and not open your eyes if you wake. Keep doing this and once you have your first one, it will become easier. Good luck !

You can move your body as long as you don't move your mind, or something like that.
