      Failing to make the transition...

      Hello everyone, Tom here!
      So, I attempted an early-morning WILD and it was my most successful one so far. I had everything: vibrations, hypnagogic imagery and auditory hallucinations.
      However, after some time I started feeling a shortness of breath and had to breathe in again. This caused everything to just fade.
      This is very recurring in my WILD attempts... It feels like I am just missing the final transition...
      What am I doing wrong? Any tips?

      In my experience, the dream doesn't always form itself, so sometimes it is necessary to be more active in creating the dream.

      If the dream isn't forming itself enough, try to imagine something happening until it happens. For example, imagine your body or bed moving in some way until it does, or imagine a dream scene appearing until it does. This not only helps form the dream, but it also acts as a motionless reality check which lets you know when you've completed the transition.

      What were you doing wrong? If you ask me, LeaoLouro, I would say that you were paying way too much attention to the noise that accompanies a WILD, to the point where it became more important than finishing the transition and beginning your dream.

      WILD is not about "vibrations, hypnagogic imagery, and audio hallucinations," or anything else like that (including "sleep paralysis," BTW); it is about maintaining waking-life self-awareness while you fall asleep, and nothing more -- or less. But if you make it about those noisy and popular things (not to mention that perceived shortness of breath), as you may have, then they become the priority and the dream takes a back seat and its chances of arriving does indeed tend to fade away.

      WILDs are not about vibrations, HI, etc., and as long as you hold those things as priorities, you will have trrouble reaching your dream. I would suggest that you try your best to ignore all that noise, and stay focused on your dream; that way you might just fall asleep without incident and complete the transition to your dream.

      "For example, imagine your body or bed moving in some way until it does", I can manage to make my bed feel like water with waves passing under me but thats still not enough as when i then get up and do an RC its just waking life. I can also make my legs stretch out as if they are twice as long but those too are illusions so to say. Any way I can use those to my advantage?
