      Deild

OK, mind if I ask a couple of questions about DEILD?

Well, I tried it this morning after waking from an LD, but it just didn't work. I remained completely still and tried to visualise the dream I'd woken from, but no picture came. I didn't try for very long (about half a minute I think); I couldn't keep still for any longer as I was lying in a bit of an awkward position. Would it have worked if I'd tried for a bit longer?

Could it be possible that my REM cycle had ended? Is there any way of telling when you've reached the end of a REM cycle?

Thanks for reading, any advice would be appreciated!

Being fully aware of the air whipping by you, controlling every movement of every single atom in your body with a single thought. It's real freedom, and there's not a word good enough to describe it, so I'll just call it dreamy for now."

Yeah, 30 seconds isn't long enough in some cases to induce DEILD. Just keep still. Also, I've been told that at some point after getting all the sleep you need, more sleep than that is all REM-sleep. I don't know how much truth there is to that, but if you're interested in following your sleep cycle and figuring out if you are at the end of a REM phase, follow a sleep graph. I'm not on DV much these days, but I'll try to toss a cool dream or two into my DJ.

Thanks, I'll try for a bit longer next time. I woke at around the time I normally wake up naturally, so I might have reached the end of a REM cycle.
