      Need DEILD help!!!!

Ok so I have been attempting Deilds for a while now and I just cant seem to get it right. I have Deild before, but only when I wake up from a dream that is so shocking I cant think about anything else. When I wake up normally though, and lay still, I fall asleep so fast that I don't even have a chance to think about the dream I just had. I have also tried using an alarm clock that shuts itself off, but I always wake up from it in such a way that I cant fall back to sleep no matter how hard I try. I guess it wakes me up too much or something. So anyone got any suggestions? Or tips that have helped you not to fall asleep before you remembered your last dream?

A DEILD is a specific type of WILD. Essentially, to DEILD, all you have to be able to do is become aware as you are waking from a dream. You don't have to think about/remember the dream you just had, all you have to do return to sleep while remaining conscious. DEILDs can be very easy when performed correctly. The next time you become aware as you are waking from the dream, just keep your eyes closed and try not to move. Just relax and allow the process to overtake you (it isn't a requirement to stay still, but results will be best if you limit your movements). You should be able to feel your body falling asleep and you will quickly return to a lucid dream state (usually with little, to no SP/HH).

You have hit the nail on the head. If you wake yourself up too much, DEILD success rates go way down. You can always attempt a WBTB WILD technique if you have woken yourself up too much to successfully DEILD. Stay awake for a few minutes (usually anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes) and then attempt a WILD technique.

Hope I helped a bit and good luck to you! If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask.

I can verify Yoshi's words if you're interested; I have had three very successful DEILDs, all that came from waking up and going back to sleep and not once asking myself to try to re-enter the specific dream I'd come out of, but just to re-enter into a dream state altogether. And yes, they should be very easy to do, very easy to get yourself lucid. Just let it come to you.

I'm not on DV much these days, but I'll try to toss a cool dream or two into my DJ.

Times I had mine I realised I was dreaming at the end of my dream and "woke up", but not to the stage that I felt myself in bed, so the transition was extremely easy. But I haven't got it to go the way Clyde described it, but that's what I'm aiming for.

Oh yeah, if you realize you are dreaming at the end of a dream, also perform a DEILD. At the end of the dream when you feel yourself waking up just keep those eyes closed and don't move. The transition is fast and generally quite simple.

Same as the above two posts. That transition has worked smoothly for me.

This morning I failed a DEILD because I was coming out of a dream, knew that I was doing so, and tried to go into a dream, eyes closed and body unmoving. I went into a dream, non-lucidly. XD

So it sounds as though its more important to just let it happen, then it is to focus on staying still and rethinking your last dream, right? But now my question is this, how on earth do I get myself aware enough to stay still but not too awake that I don't fall back to sleep??! Every time I wake up and not move, I fall asleep so fast that I don't even realize I woke up in the night until the morning when I get up out of bed.

Wait a minute, you have to let yourself fall back asleep to do a DEILD! XD

You've kinda got it right: it's helpful to try to re-enter the last dream, since you're coming right out of it, but it's not imperative. The whole goal of that is just to get yourself back into the dreamstate. You only need be awake long enough to realize that you just left a dream, and to bring yourself into a new one. You don't have to go into keeping yourself aware and all that like a full-blown WILD, just let yourself go back into a dream - I always need to push myself a little, but only a little, and I'm in a lucid. They're just easy lucids, they're not a lot to worry about.
