Hey all. Thanks to all of the people who posted advice in this thread, I feel I am getting closer to having my first WILD! I took a nap today cause I was really tired and got some strange wave sensations through my body, but they went away as quickly as they arrived :/ Then I fell asleep But I'm getting there! Good luck to all the others who are trying as well.

Good luck to you too! In my desperation, I tried WILDing 2 times last night! And I tried WILDing this morning too. I've failed at least seven times, but I have sort of leanred from them. WILDs are good because, you can practice and you'll get better and better!

PRACTICE! Exactly! (or as my annoying friend would taunt me, exACtly. inside joke.)

It's all the working-out-the-mechanics that make WILDs interesting and worthwhile. And i the end, you get longer controllable dreams!

I used the relaxation technique off of BillyBob's WILD tutorial; I found that if I attempt to do anything other than relax I'll think about it too much and lose all progress. So I just breathe-in, breathe-out, "one; breathe-in, breathe-out, "two." and repeat this process until you enter sleep paralysis; I find it actually doesn't take as long as he says it does (he says he counts to 300), I normally enter SP at about 150 or 200. Then as I said earlier I get fascinated by how weird and awesome SP is and lose my progress haha

Its one of the best books on lucid dreaming out there, many people who consider it the lucid dreaming bible. Here a link to an online version of it, as well as some other online lucid dreaming articles and books.

Yes, Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming is a MUST READ if you're serious about lucid dreaming! Some people may give it a bad review because it doesn't get into the spiritual side of things or the meaning of it, but that's not the point of the book. It simply tells you HOW to lucid dream, not WHY to lucid dream. It's a purely physiological look at LDing, so don't read this book if you're looking for the spiritual meaning of lucidity. I reiterate, it's entirely scientific and not mystical whatsoever. But if you want to lucid dream, you simply must read this; it will make the entire process SOOOO much easier

I had some success last night! I had a very short LD about 2 or 3 mins (I think I got too excited) and weirdly, I did it right before I went to bed. It was short, but its a start! I'm going to check out that book too. It sounds interesting...

      ICanDigIt: Congratulations! Great start!

LucidSleeperCel: I'm just wondering..but what if I read the whole book and it gets me unfocused on WILDing? And what if it gets me confused? I am afraid if I read it that i won't want to WILD anymore.

What would make you come to that conclusion? I've read the book myself and I can assure you that there is no reason whatsoever this book would cause you to deviate from WILDing. The thing is, that ETWOLD goes over DILDs first and gets into WILDs in a later chapter. If you're really concerned about that I would suggest skipping to the WILD section of the book, but I highly suggest you read the whole book in chronological order.

The only time i have really even come close to WILD is when i had a weird sensation of buttons raining down on me, it literally felt like there was raining buttons. No SP no WILD just the buttons and then i open my eyes they are gone. Best feeling ever and most strange feeling ever.

I think it would be cool to make a short 30 second clip of someone laying in bed as buttons are falling from the sky above them onto the bed and around them with some nice backing music clip. The way it happened for me was so artistic.

@IndigoGhost: That "button" sensation you're talking about sounds very similar to the common "tingling" sensation reported by some during SP. So you probably did achieve SP, you just didn't realize that a tingling feeling sometimes accompanies it

Its quite possible, but i still think it felt more like colorful buttons

So a few times I've tried to get to SP, I think I make it into SP because of the slight falling feeling, but then come out of it, and then I can't seem to get back in to it. Also, I turn over... like I have to. Is that urge to move prob just a test? If I get into SP and come out, should I try again and it should come fairly quickly? It takes me about 30mins to get to SP. I need to find how to stay in SP...

Just keep practicing, try different WILD techniques. BillyBob's WILD tutorial has three good techniques for instance. You have to kind of experiment to see what works for you. The best thing though, is practice practice practice!

I think I know what I need to do, I just need to be more persistant

Also, the more times I do it, the faster I'll get used to the feelings and won't become excited about getting into SP. I think it's just a focusing thing

I did read the tutorial by the way. Was interesing. I like option 3 though, lol
