[Lesson 3] : Basic dream control

So now you're lucid and you've stabilized the dream, let's move onto controlling the dream.

The key to every kind of control

Believe that what you're trying to do is going to work; having any doubt is going to make you unsuccessful. If you imagine it happening, then it will.

      Visualization

This is a tool you can use to make control easier, it allows your mind to believe in the imaginary circumstances. For example, it's hard to use telekinesis to move an object while you're just standing there. However, if you point your hands towards an object and pantomime pulling it towards you with an invisible rope, then it becomes easy. Finding ways of rationalizing it for your mind will help you immensely.

      Basic dream skills

That's all you need to know about dream control, now let's go over some of the basic skills you can learn. I'll give you guys a few tips on ways to visualize them, but it's ultimately up to you to find the right technique for yourself.

      Flying

Perhaps the most popular form of control, and yet so many people have trouble with it. These are the 4 most popular ways of visualizing it:

      - Being pushed through the air by an invisible platform.

      - Focusing on a certain point, and getting pulled towards it.

      - "Swimming" through the air

      - Flapping your arms like a bird

That's obviously for once you're in the air. For the take-off, a lot of people run and then jump into the superman position. You can also plant yourself down and then shoot up like a rocket like Neo from The Matrix.

      Summoning people

An easy way to do this is by walking around a corner or opening a door, and expecting the person to be there. You can also cover your eyes (closing them is usually a bad idea because it can cause you to open your real eyes and exit the dream), and expect the person to be there when you uncover them.

      Scenery changes

Can be done by covering your eyes, then uncovering them and expecting to be in a different place. Walking through a magic doorway, or a mirror can also transport you to a different scene.

      Telekinesis

Like I said before, use you hand to move the objects. You can imagine that you have invisible arms that extend out much further than your real arms, and they can pick up whichever object you like. Once you become better at it, using your hands isn't really necessary, but it's fun to do anyways.

      Shooting fireballs
I like thrust one or both of my hand outs, depending on the size of the fireball.

^ Like Ryu, or any Dragonball Z character. This skill is pretty easy to learn, it helps to imagine a tingling sensation in your hands as you're charging it up. Once you thrust forward and release the fireball, you can even guide it with your hands and make it curve around to hit an object.

      Using DCs to help you

This is almost like cheating in a way. You can usually count on DCs to do stuff for you. Having trouble with flying? Just grab onto a random DC and tell him to fly. Or you can tell them to summon a person for you, or create a magical door for you so you can do a scenery change. Since it's a lot easier to trust in a DCs ability rather than your own, you can use them to do everything for you.

Please post any questions or comments you have!

Any tips on shapeshifting? That's my current goal.
Also I had a lucid two days ago and I asked a dc to teach me some shapeshifting techniques but he got really hostile after that. What are your thoughts on that?

I'll include that in the next lesson, since I consider it to be advanced

Try asking another DC to help you, one that looks friendlier. Or you could summon a friend you know in real life to teach you. Most of the time you'll be able to control the DCs, but sometimes you'll get one that is hostile like that. In that situation, it's easier to just go up to another DC rather than trying to control the hostile one to make him help you.

It helps to phrase the question in a way that suggests the DC knows a lot about control, and is willing to help you. Say something like, "You're very skilled at control, please teach me how to shapeshift." It makes it easier for you to believe in the DC, and so he can teach you a way of shapeshifting and you'll be able to trust in his technique. It's all about getting yourself to believe in a certain outcome, phrasing things in more direct ways will lead to better results.

If you walk up to a DC and ask if, "Can you teach me how to shapeshift?", then there's the possibility that he can say no. You left it open for the DC to give his own response, and you're no longer controlling him. If you have any doubt in your mind, chances are he will say no. It's better to directly command things from the DCs, but in a polite way so that they don't become hostile.

Ahhh. But the strange thing is that the DC is my friend in real life. But in the LD he went as far as threatening to kill me. I figured I'd just go along with what he wanted to teach me (driving recklessly, which was fun anyway, but still). It was really wierd. I'll definitely follow your tips though for the next time I talk to a DC.

Don't forget to mention that to fly some people like to swim through the air like water.

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride

Try telling your friend that you're in a dream, and make him "lucid" too. Let me know how it goes next time
