Exclamation Is it important to read your dream journal?

Well the title kind of says it all. I NEVER Read my dream journal after entering dreams and I was wondering if that could be affecting my... um non lucid-ness? Or uhh ability to have lucids?

All the lucids Iv'e had have been accidental and VERY vague, honestly I am not even sure they can be called full on lucids!

So back to the title and overall questoin...

Is reading your dream journal periodically important for lucid dreaming

Also I NEVER do reality checks are those REALLY important too? All I really do is try FILDs and WILDs sometimes but give up like an hour after AND sometimes I slip into sleep paralysis on accident but I NEVER take the opportunity and the reason is... I usually only get SP when I am sick!

example: I get up at like 6 on the weekend and I am painfully sick to blow my nose... I doze and then slip into SP BUT! I can't breathe through one nostril or I am uncomfortable so I SHAKE myself out and go to regular sleep... So... Really I dunno what to do

Well, if you don't try DILD, you don't NEED to read it, but its recommended, there is other thing, if you can't get WILD to work, why not try DILD for a little while? And how long has you been trying to WILD for?

Oh right, if you give a shot at DILD, remember, reading your DJ is important, since that way you can find a dream sign and therefore have a better idea of when to RC.

And for the WILD and RC, yeah, it isn't a must, but it helps, since some failed WILDs end being a FA with the person thinking they failed, so if you RC after every WILD attempt, you may find that you already fell asleep, but was in a FA lol

Well the problem is I can't find "dream signs" and I know little about them. I assume it is like finding common elements in your dream and doing an RC whenever those elements arise in waking life BUT I think my dreams are so random it is impossible!

EDIT: Also does it matter what order you put your dreams in your DJ? Because I have some really old ones and I have NO IDEA when I dreamed it and I don't want to mix dates!

Well, if you don't try it, how will you know? Also, really good quote from Mario92:
It takes a bit to build up a journal with enough dreams to find any sort of consistent dream sign, but it definitely helps to think of dream signs not only as recurring elements, but also as categories. For example, it may be that many of your dreams have strange or inappropriate settings, characters behave oddly, objects act strangely, it appears that the entire world is underwater, etc. Search more for common threads instead of specific recurring elements.
Also, remember you can use states of mind as DS too, like, if in all your dreams you are angry, RC every time you get angry, or the memory RC, try going back on how you got to where you are, that one works a lot for people with random dreams. Though getting on the habit of doing them is quite hard, and sometimes boring, well, boring while you get it to work, but it can be worth it!
