Why can I do some things in a dream and not others?

For example, I can sort of fly.. (although not very high, and definitely not fast for some reason).. I can also walk through windows.. But when I tried changing a piece of plastic which I scrunched up into a ball in my hands I couldn't make it into a bird, (I was trying to show off to the DC's) I also have tried changing the scenery while spinning around but everything stays the same.. Finally I tried to produce electricity from my fingers but nothing happened..

And on a side note, does anybody have a problem with DC's attacking you when you ask them if they know it's a dream? three out of the 4 DC's I asked attacked me, throwing fists, (one was that sword dwelling women from the walking dead).. The last DC to my surprise responded with, "yes" and went on to shout to other DC's "this guys dreaming" in a sarcastic voice...

But yeah, any advice greatly appreciated!

Hmmm... Sounds like you just need practice. It took me 70 LDd to fly (to fly like a boss I could hover sometimes) but after in learned that every other dream control seems to come pretty easy. Leaatways all the basic easy ones like summoning changing objects and teleporting. After learning how to fly I kind of realized that I had been trying the wrong way. I can now use willpower to fly easily, but the easiest way to fly and the most major breakthrough in my dream control is treating all tasks like I treat walking. Dont think about doing it, just do it like it is the most normal thing in the world! Remember Yoda and Luke after Yoda lifted the x-wing out of the swamp.

      Luke: I don't believe it!
Yoda: that is why you fail.

You may say that you believe, but you dont subconsciously believe.

Yeah I think you might be right.. I've only had 6 lucids so far so hopefully with time and practice I'll be able to do these things!

Ohh yeah I have heaps of explaining to do for you. Basically you have stumble upon something I have always discussed amongst avid dreamers. SO I have lucid dreams but I can't control every aspect of the dreams. The level of lucidity is dependent on many factors I feel like are involved with our everyday lives. So Basically the flying thing, this happens to me every once in a while and I can't seem to control my flying as well as I have in the past. Its hit or miss sometimes. Walking through walls is the same thing, invisible or cloaking all the same. I have noticed many abilities manifest in dream states and in later dreams the same abilities manifest but weaker or not as accurate. Sometimes I fly with no control or sometimes its perfect. Location changing works easier with doors, spinning is going to be hard. Some people can change everything though. hasn't happened to me yet. I have had transparent dreams made of rainbow matter while simultaneously feeling my sleeping body, but in that dream I didn't control other people only my actions. When I tried to reveal the dream to others they do become agitated or ridicule you for such remarks. I call this the other dimension paradigm, so if we are some how sharing multiple realities like dream states it would disrupt them from their everyday life by trying to reveal it. This has happened to me many times. It is not out of the ordinary.

Thanks for your's, (and everybody else's) advice! I'm going to take it all on board for the next time I become lucid! Yeah I like the sound of the door method for changing scenery, will also give that a go. I guess visualization is key?
