      This may be off-topic...

I didn't know where else to ask this, but right when I woke up I heard a huge crash in my room and I was looking everywhere and nothing fell.. Was it one of those hallucinations? I'm kinda freaked out, I had to do a reality check just to make sure I wasn't dreaming..

Sounds like it's just an auditory hypnagogic hallucination. I've heard someone else have something similar. They woke up because something sounded like glass shattering. They asked their parents what fell, but nothing actually broke.

It's fairly normal, nothing to be freaked out about.

I once woke up to the sound of glass breaking which was really loud, after some looking around I came to the conclusion it never happened.
If you read this do a reality check, you will thank me later...

      Hi,

I believe that you accidently did something which DEILD Technique follows:
      - Waking Up During Active REM Sleep Phase
      - Keeping Eyes Closed
      - Staying Motionless
If you were to wake up and followed those three steps your body would attempt to put you back into dream
Which results in perceiving Consciously Falling Asleep Sensations
      I'm back! Again? Uhhh..

Definitely sounds like HH. It can be so powerful at times where you can even hear deafening music, or lazer beams shooting at you, or even someone yelling your name from right next to you. All of which have happened to me. The next time something like that happens to you, try going into a WILD and see where you can get. You just might get yourself a free Lucid Dream without the wait!

A good amount to do them each day is once every 1 or 2 hours, depending on the person and how much doing RC's annoy them. But when I did RC's I did 1 every hour, and with consistent work comes consistent results. Dont give up!

Yea I use to do them a lot and I've actually done the nose plug twice in A dream, became lucid but not too aware. I've also had 2 Lds with my hand RC.

I know there are people that get this thing sometimes...
God, I can't remember what the hell it's called....
      Errrrrr......?

      Banging Head Syndrome?
      Loud Head Syndrome?

I know it has syndrome at the end of it.

      Found it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exploding_head_syndrome

If it isn't that, and you don't experience this a lot, it's most likely an AHH.

      ^^ *Exploding*

Actually (I actually went and read the OP this time) it doesn't sound like exploding head syndrome. That usually happens as you're falling asleep as far as I know. If it's when you're waking - I have no clue.

I guess I wasn't thinking violent enough. Banging or loud just didn't cut it. It had to be exploding...

Think it happens when you dream as well.
My mom has it sometimes at like 2:00 A.M when she usually get's up.

      I could be wrong though.
As far as I know, the topic isn't very well researched or documented.
It's all up in the air at this point.

Well I suppose that's possible. I'm not entirely sure what I have is exploding head, but it's something very similar. Apparently it happens to people who suffered long term sleep deprivation? It's either minutes before I fall asleep or sometimes it happens late if I'm just sitting quietly, at a time when I probably SHOULD be in bed and starting to get super relaxed. First I feel a surge of energy of some kind start near the base of my spine and move up rapidly, and when it hits my head any sound I'm hearing suddenly gets unbelievably loud for just a second. Even if it's something quiet like a fan going. Seems to happen every night.
