No, no it had nothing to do with that.
It's the fact that humans destroyed their habitat and introduced predators.
If anything,
"kakapo, which can live up to 90 years, are notoriously slow breeders, only reproducing in seasons when abundant fruit is available from native tree species."
^That makes it probably one of the least likely species to ever go extinct. (Excluding the humans destroying them part).
