      Dreamworlds - by Wreckluse

      Hi everyone

I've decide to start a thread dedicated to paintings of the various different "Worlds" that frequently occur in my nightly dreams. One of my most reliable dreamsigns is "unrealistic environments", so more often then not when I have dreams of fantastic/surreal landscapery I become Lucid. I don't know if all of these paintings will be from Lucid Dreams, but they WILL all be from my dream journal/sketchbook. I'm only gonna post new paintings so I can motivate myself to paint at least one or more of these a week. I'll include the original sketch that I did upon waking up, and also the dream journal notes that I jotted down. Im doing this mostly for myself to try and keep my dreaming and painting skills moving forward, but it is my hope that others might get some enjoyment from this as well.

Thanks for taking the time to look!

Very alien landscape. I thought I was on the moon and I wondered why everything was brown instead of grey like in the photos. Very vibrant colors looking out into space. I didn't recognize the planets in the sky and that's when I realized I wasn't on earth and that I was dreaming. Not very much control. I wanted to fly but I felt really heavy. It was hard to even walk. I figured gravity must be different here. Walked up a hill to get a better look at big planet with rings. Felt myself being pulled toward it. I had to lean back the pull was so intense. I guess it was from the pull of gravity from the other planet because it was so big, or so close. Who knows. Vibrant blues were stunning.

Wow! that picture is beautiful. Reminds me of my space/sci fi dreams. Is the hooded figure supposed to be you?

My paintings are usually done in Painter X and Photoshop. Every once in awhile Ill use ArtRage or something similar if I'm feeling adventurous And I use an Intuos 2 Wacom tablet.

@JadeGreen : Sci fi dreams are the best! And yea its supposed to be me, but it could be any dreamer!. I put the hood on him to try and make it more anonymous. I think I'm gonna make a series out of these where I always have a shadowed hooded figure in them to signify the dreamer.

James Gurney is awesome, and you are right. That book is an excellent resource.

I think this picture got inside my head more than you realize. Excerpt from last nights DJ entry.

...Flames on, we're flying! I looked down and saw that I was about fifty feet off the ground. All of the DCs stopped working on planting trees and stared up at me in amazement/confusion, asking how I was flying. You know, i'll be honest. It's starting to get old.

I looked up at the moon. I knew with my standard flying technique it would take me all night to fly to the moon. I had to cheat. So I looked up in the sky and imagined the moon coming closer. At first it didn't work, but then the blue sky turned black and the moon started to fill up my vision. I regained control. I was flying at hyperspeed through space.

The moon was coming up quick. I went around the dark side, sweeping low across the terrain. So low that I kicked up a bunch of moon dust and made a trail across the surface. I made a complete orbit and came around the dark side again, this time pulling 'up' twoard the north pole. There was a big flat crater here that looked like a good place to land.

I halted my velocity and thought to move down toward the surface only to go flying at the surface at some absurd speed. I had to quickly freeze myself again. I was only a couple miles above the surface now. It was also now that I noticed that the moon was kind of a beige/sandy color rather than grey.

Okay, I need to descend slowly! Just like in KSP landing on the moon is a delicate art...

I shot back down at hyperspeed, even faster than before. Everything went dark for a second and I heard rock and dust exploding. I stood up and I had made a fifty foot wide crater for myself. I'm so lucky that I am invincible. I still remember shouting something profane when I hit the moon though.

I decided I wanted to look up in the sky and see earth. But when I looked up at the direction I had came from, I didn't just see earth. I saw ALL the planets. They were all in a straight horizontal row, about moon sized in the sky. Some were a little bit bigger than others.

"Mercury... Venus... Earth... Mars... Jupiter... Saturn.. Uranus... Neptune... even Pluto!"

I started bouncing around in the gravity of the moon. Kudos to the dream for getting the gravity right. Even though I don't think I was wearing a space suit...

Jade, that is an amazing dream! I'm honored to have played a role in its existence!

Nice move slamming yourself into the moon at Hyperspeed, btw Probably scared the crap out of you, but I bet it looked cool afterwards.
You know, I have 100's of space dreams, and I don't think I even had ONE where I was in a space suit. How odd... Glad to see I'm not the only one who's subconscious thinks its perfectly ok to breath in places with no atmosphere

      Here's another one I just finished. Non-Lucid.

Was walking in a somewhat rocky/grassy field playing with my phone. I heard a woman's voice so I looked over and a pretty girl in a bikini bottom and a grey tshirt was waving trying to get my attention. Looked like a surfer. I knew her in the dream, not in real life I don't think. weird. She said something was wrong with the ocean, and wanted me to come look. So I went with her and she showed me where the lightning was striking the water in the distance through the clouds. The land looked really odd. It was like the land was waves. I thought it was funny because the ocean was so calm, but the land was....ocean like. I dunno. I asked the girl what was wrong. She said the lightning was screwing everything up and she couldn't swim. She asked if I could fix it. I said ....Fix it how? Make it stop. I laughed. I don't know how to do that. She shrugged it off, and went ohh, well ok. Isn't it pretty tho? Yep. I like your hair, btw. It looks better wet. Just sayin. (I'm pretty sure she was hinting at me to fix the ocean somehow. I would have done it if I was lucid Damn).

Lightning was hitting all around us...but it didnt seem to bother either of us. Probably because there was no thunder.

Lovely painting. I really like how you painted the clouds. : D I wonder why you weren't afraid of the lightning though. I'd be looking for a safe place even if i heard no thunder. Maybe the girl made you feel safe somehow.

This one isn't really a "Dreamworld" I guess.....but it was a dream! And I painted it!

Was in NYC visiting my brother. Got lost, and was trying to figure out where the heck I was. I saw a stage with a guitar on it. No speakers/amps. Looked...odd. Homeless guy came up to me and told me to go play the guitar. I said...I cant really play that well. He said it didnt matter. He tried to give me all his change if I would just go play. I said I would play but I didnt want his money...he just grinned at me. Kinda evil like....again...weird.

So I get on stage and as soon as I pick it up, the huge building in front me lights up and sheet music starts flying across the screen. I can barely see the notes, but I can kind of feel them on the fretboard. I start playing and the sound just comes out of everywhere. Incredible booming sound coming from everywhere and nowhere at the same. I felt like I was playing guitar hero with the sheet music on the screen. Awesome.

Thanks The lightning was a little strange. It really wasn't all that bright either now that I think about it. It just didn't seem menacing to me at all. Maybe you are right though. It could have just been that her presence was calming in a way.(Or maybe I was just putting on a brave face for the pretty girl....sounds like me. Ill never tell)

These are really cool and very dreamlike. You should get an IMGUR account. It allows you to post your pictures big rather than small by having a link. (Or you can use DeviantArt, but there are an awful lot of snobby critics on that site, at least from my experience.)

I'm working on a new work of art, stepping away from characters and moving into environments as well. I might have taken a little inspiration from you...

In the third one (the city at night) I like the dream scribble language. I've seen some of that dream text myself.

Looking at your painting makes me think how interesting it is that the world of dreams appears so differently to many people. Its a great painting and it sort of makes me feel like I really went inside your mind. : )
