My vote goes to No.8 - I love the colours and the depth of field, and I could just eat it up

My choice was difficult between number 7 and number 8. I ended up choosing number 7 because the image captured in the photo gives it the sense of free-floating. I thought it was a nice angle good job MoS

I voted for Abra's, something about that photo just grabs me and won't let go. Love the shallow DOF and muted color; it suits the image.

Thanks Ne-yo! I took that a year and a half ago with a point and shoot, and it's still one of my favorites.

I voted for Mos's, very surreal, I love it. It was a hard decision..

Wow I love TS's... But I had to vote for Kichu's. I love beautiful things that are simple at the same time.

Face of Boe. I like the colors, as well as the flowers themselves. You can see more in the background, but they give a different expression than those in the front.

I chose Face of Boe. It has a nice color to it and seems shiny.

MoS, love the blue hue, brings back a heavy feeling of nostalgia for some reason.

I voted for Shift, and not because she's my adoptomom but because it's just a stellar macro.



I know I'm not participating, but I probably will in the future and wanted to add my two cents.

I think photoshopped photos should be out of the running. There's just too much you could do to make it better.

This competition should be for photography skill only.
Maybe start one for best edited photo as well, but leave this unadulterated.

However if there's a tie, I have no idea what to do then lol.

IMHO.

I disagree. I think Photoshop is perfectly fine, some people shoot in RAW so need some form of editing software to bring out the picture, like the old days of developing film, the same techniques were used, just not digitally.

I love 1 and 2 because they're unusual. But 1 is a little too out of focus for me and 2 is a little too barren.

4, 7, 8 and 10 are all beautiful.
What is 4? Is it poison Ivy?
I love the Cattail in 7 but I'm not crazy about the blue hue.
8 looks delicious, but I want to see MORE
10 is perfectly centered and is beautiful, but I want more color. What is it BTW? It's very interesting.

3, 5, 6 and 9 are outstanding Spring shots!!
3 is absolutely vividly gorgeous, but not quite centered right IMMHO
I LOVE the purple in 5 but it too is a little out of focus.
6 is breath-taking and it would have my vote if I didn't have "Spring" on my brain.
9 is perfect in every way and get's my vote.... if it wasn't too late, that is...

I would like to note, though, that a lot of what you seem to find faults in the submissions are not that at all. #1 and #5 are not out of focus, but rather have a shallow depth of field (meaning that the area of focus is not very deep) because they are macro shots, and centering is not everything. In fact, in photography, centering is rarely wanted. There are only certain shots in which centering 'works'; typically you want your subject to one side and positioned to draw the viewer's eye through the photo in a path similar to an S-curve. Flower macros are one instance in which centering often does work, though.

Just thought I'd speak up with that.

My comments are just things that personally move me.
I'm anal about angles lol It's just a quark of who I am. So, I love photos to be perfectly centered- but again, that's just personal preference.

I didn't know that about the macro shots though
