Sleep Paralysis occurs every single night while you're asleep, for the entire duration of your sleep to prevent you from moving while dreaming. It's just that during a WILD you can potentially become aware of it as you're conscious through the process of falling asleep.

As Company said, sleep paralysis is natural and occurs multiple times each night--you just aren't aware of it!

There are a few people who find sleep paralysis unpleasant. In the past it was likened to a demon or hag sitting on your chest. But most people are neutral towards it, since it's not scary or painful, just weird. You can expect vibrations or rolling/tipping sensations, and auditory and visual hallucinations. You don't have to experience all of those things at once, though (I usually don't). As for myself, I like sleep paralysis. But I tend to like weird things. Fluorescent mismatched socks especially.

yeah, it's not really that bad at all; for me it just feels like swaying on a hammock or something

I typically have little problem with sleep paralysis on the occasions I am actually aware of it.

As people stated above, sleep paralysis happens every night to keep you from acting out your dreams, a natural phenomenon of sleep. It's not a scary process, though becoming aware while in SP can be unnerving to people because they find movement difficult while the effects are present.

As long as you know that it's happening you can tell yourself why it happens and calm down enough to enjoy the experience.

WILD attempts can be achieved without experiencing sleep paralysis, or at least without being aware of it. If you do attempt WILD and become aware of SP it shouldn't last long before you either wake up or slip into a dream.
