The way to get rid of these stereotypes is for people to stop being so damn sensitive to them. Learning to laugh at yourself and realize that people make racist jokes that are just jokes is good for society. No one gets offended when Lisa Lamponelli makes some of the most racist jokes I've ever heard because everyone knows that they are just jokes.

But what do blacks wash down all that fried chicken with? GRAPE DRINK OF COURSE!

At first I wrote down a whole bunch of hate speech about black people, gay people, the Irish, and athiests.

Have you guys ever been the victim of stereotypes?

Obviously, somebody has to go through with one in their lives.

Almost daily. A majority of my closest friends are white and, since I feel at home hanging out anywhere and with anyone, I'm often perceived as "that black guy," especially by those that haven't had all that much exposure to black people. It never seems to fail that simply my presence is enough to provoke a racial joke or stereotype or two. It's not always something overtly mean-spirited, but often something that can be interpreted as such. I'll usually just laugh it off because, really, what point is there in getting defensive over it? It gets old after a while, though.

On the other hand, I hear stereotypes about white people, coming from black friends and family, all the time. Again, not always something obviously malicious - but ignorant, nonetheless.

I try not to stereotype because I'm conscious enough to know that there are exceptions to every stereotype. To just assume someone is not an exception is (the way I see it) to disrespect that person, without even knowing anything about them. Often being one of those exceptions, myself, I just find it really ignorant when people undermine that fact simply to dish out some of what I would consider "tasteless humor."

scottish people just eat haggis, they only wear kilts, they all have ginger hair, and noone can understand them. thats a big stereotypical view of scottish people.
and im scottish and i dont like haggis, ive only worn a kilt like 3 times for weddings etc. i dont have ginger hair, and i have a perfectly understandable accent.

My friends would always make fun of my native ancestry, but I'd just go along with it because it never really bothered me too much.

Generally I find stereo types funny, because when people use them it is usually because assuming bad things about other people makes you feel better about yourself.

At least when they are serious about the stereo types. I like stereo types because they are so ridiculous. When I see things depicting say, a black person liking watermelons, or a Jewish person hoarding money, it makes me laugh at the silliness.

The jews have all the money and the whites have all the power.

I love watermelon and fried chicken, grape drink is really good too. Seriously, if I had a plate of that, that would be like the best food ever.

The stereotype isn't true, but you can assume it as black people having good taste.

My friends always ask me if I will mow their lawn for five pesos because I;m Hispanic.lol. I;m not even Mexican. :s

ANd then one always aks me how it was to cross the border, and i;m like wtf because I;m American and he is an immigrant from Albania. xD

the southwest or the south, then you're mexican
new york, then you're puerto rican
florida, then you're cuban
alaska, then you're inuit

How is that a stereotype? I mean, I certainly never assumed all of them were descendant from Mexico, but...

I lived in Texas, and all the Mexicans I knew were Mexican.

Of course, my stereotype is that I call all of the Hispanic people "Mexican."

But you get what I was saying right? I just called all Hispanic people Mexican, it wasn't that I thought they were actually from Mexico.

However, all of the Hispanic people I knew usually were either from, or descendant from people who were from, Mexico. I knew a few who were like...from portugal, but not many.
