Thread: Tell me about stereotypes.

Stereotypers are stereotyped to stereotype individuals into narrow-minded classifications.

Man has built a society where stereotypes will exist. Turn on the news. The only thing you'll ever hear politicians and the media talk about is the differences between people. The things that seperate us. Race, skin colour, religion, money, job, social class, education, beliefs, etc. Thats all you ever hear about on the news. You never hear about the things that everyone shares. The things that unite us as a species.

Have you ever thought about the politicians/people that have been assassinated? It's always people that tell us to care for one another and live in harmony. Help each other.

The reason we always hear about our differences - the things that seperate us is because that is the way any upper class in a society divides the rest of the people. They keep the middle and lower class fighting with each other so they, the rich, can run off with all the money. Happens to be extremely efficient.

Stereotype: All british have bad teeth (don't know if this was said or not)

excuse me, not to perpetrate the black steretype, but... who the hell doesnt love fried chicken??? i mean really come on people! and yeah, kinda like oneironaut it goes for both sides. i got to a mostly white school and they all make jokes about me getting an afro and fried chiken and all that stuff... it was funny the first couple times but it got annoying. and then because i dont sag my pants and use excessive slang and play basketball they say I'm "white". thats the thing that really pisses me off! haha all the pasty pale kids callin me white.

I know, who the hell doesn't love fried chicken. It tastes damn good.

I used to get pretty annoyed at my friends for calling me "White" or metro because I come off as an erudite and eloquent person. I suppose I'm just a savvy articulator but I don't know...I am pretty judgmental about people who can't form a decent sentence together. I want to throw a book at them sometimes. Since I don't sag, wear the FUBU or Rocawear clothes my peers do, speak slang, walk with a limp, and swear incessantly...I'm considered white amongst my black friends (this is what they said). As if doing the exact opposite in some way defines your "true" level of blackness. That's the kind of shit that really grinds my gears. And contrary to popular belief, black people do NOT have an additional DNA strand called N-B-A.

I was a very white, very TINY girl in school and the black kids used to call me a "Cracker" I have fond memories of that because I never hear it any more.

Stereotypes I get annoyed with:
All West Virginian's have sex with their relatives, are uneducated, and have no teeth.
Jehovah's Witnesses don't believe in Jesus.

Not at all. For the most part, it was affectionately said (much how now-a-days black people call each other the "N" word.
I am very sensitive to racism because I was tormented in school- physically and emotionally bullied to an extreme (I was pushed down the stairs once). For the most part, it was the white kids who were dishing it out. After awhile, a couple huge black boys started protecting me by just walking beside me in the hall. I never even knew their names. I was painfully shy back then and very mousey.

exactly jeff, thats what happens to me. its annoying cause theres a couple black kids at school who do that too. I think its ridiculous! Someone is finally getting good grades and actually speaking the language properly just like all the great black leaders have dreamed for years and they decide to just put them down! And i really think some white people get their impression of black people from movies and music videos...

people from B.C province are all potheaded hippies.
All albertans are cowboys who eat prarie oysters.
All the people from Saskatchewan are hutterite (they are like the amish.)
Winnipeg is filled with crack heads.
french people are good at hanging gyproc but they can't tape worth shit.
All native people drink lysol while blasting AC/DC.
all people in the northern territories huff glue and live in igloos.
