Tell me about your first concert experience.. and favourite Strokes song.

Mine will happen in 8 days! Its a festival including The Strokes, Hot Chip, Mumford & Son, Band of Horses, Middle East, Bluejuice, Angus and Julia Stone and Art vs Science.

I can't wait to see Hot Chip and The Strokes most of all of the bands.

If any of you have listened to the Strokes, whats your favourite song? I've got their discography and just want to know the highlights for other people. My faves are You Only Live Once (obviously - freaken awesome song), Evening Sun, Killing Lies, Soma.. Yeah.. Love em so far what I have heard!

Also, tell me your first concert experience. Who was playing, where was it, how was it, what'd you eat and how long'd it go for?

My first concert was Black Label Society. Archer and Dope headlined. It was at the senator theater in Chico CA. The music was great but my dad was there is it kinda sucked. I just drank mountain dew lol.

Best was Metallica at the Arco arena in Sacramento. It was in December for their world magnetic tour. I was in the pit the whole time.

A close second best was Floater at the Senator again. I was on the rail the whole time and just headbanged while getting hit in the back.

I hope you have a good time.

My first concert that I enjoyed was Jonathan Coulton at The House of Blues. It was a pretty nerdy show, and he had Paul and Storm headlining for him.
The atmosphere was easily the best part of it. It was just as much stand-up comedy as a concert. Very very funny guy.

      I don't listen to The Strokes~

I might be able to go to Lollapalooza in August. Depends how things play out. Lots of great artists there.

I was like 10 and went with my dad to see Hilary Duff. When I was younger, I was obsessed with her . I even remember talking on the phone or something with her in a dream . Well, I wrote Hilary Duff with nail polish on my fingernails. Brought ear plugs-I am just so bad , and I loved it! We were near the back, but it was a great view. I think my ears would hurt if I was in the front anyway . Now, who's going to make fun of me?

I'm heaps worried about being shoved to the back. On the facebook page for the festival over 3 thousand people are going (and thats only people with facebook you know). I want to be right at the front so I can see all the bands really well. I don't care if I can't hear for a few days after!

Jonathan Coulton. Reminds me of friends in Illinois. Good times.

But first concert was OK Go, introduced to me by my roommate. Best concert was The Mountain Goats+Owen Pallet.

And favorite Strokes song is Alone, Together.

Was going to go to the Pitchfork music festival with my research bros. But then I cheaped out and bought good headphones instead. Oh well. There's next year.

Wow, you saw Owen Pallet. I don't listen to Ok Go or Mountain Goats much at all but I really like the song Lewis Takes Off His Shirt by Owen Pallet.

Diyfest '07. It was a bunch of lame punk bands playing on some guys porch. My first cool concert was when I saw August Burns Red, Suicide Silence, and Unearth. If I was two hundred pounds heavier I may have had a better time, but it was still cool.

And my favorite song from The Strokes is Reptilia, of course.

My first concert was to see You Me At Six. They were amazing live! The only downsides were - My voice hurt, I was dehydrated from being crushed in beside people and jumping about, my plimsolls were caked in dirt, i had bruises on my legs and guys kept touching my ass. Well worth it though

Judas Priest at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson on Good Friday, 1984. Great White opened for them. Priest was my favorite band at the time, after the Beatles of course. I was 12. My dad and my uncle took me and my cousin to see it. My cousin and I thought it was one of the greatest events of our lives, but my dad and uncle absolutely hated it. My dad still bitches about that concert, and I'm sure my uncle would if he were still alive. They sat through the last part of it with their fingers covering their ears.

My favorite Strokes song is "Last Night".

I was ten, I saw No Doubt, Bad Religion, Blink-182 and Green Day. My first concert with just my friends I was 12 and saw the Dwarves, the Fleshies and a few others which was absolute mayhem and madness. I don't listen to the Strokes.

My first concert, as I recall, was a pretty popular german punk band at the age of 13 called "die toten hosen", I went with a friend it was incredible. (don't like them much anymore, but it's a pretty big event back then and still is now) But it did get me addicted in a way, I have been to,... I don't know.. maybe 5-600 live acts thus far? (including festivals, though) I live in a pretty music-drawn city with quite a few performances every day. Live music is just amazing and there are so many incredible bands that you can see for free, too. Strokes I've only seen a couple of times though, not much into them, but for favourite song I would probably have to say

Good luck, there are a bag of tricks you'll pick up on in time, I hope you are in good shape and you have the will to endure for a while. I personally have come to enjoy the show more from a comfortable distance after a while, but all different kinds of live experiences have their own benefits. But please don't complain with phrases like "I paid x money to watch a band, not to be pushed around"

My first concert was an anniversary gift from my girlfriend. She took me to see my favorite band, Portugal. The Man, and it was by far the greatest musical experience of my life. We got a spot on the venue's upper balcony, directly next to the right speakers. My ears were ringing for a solid two days afterwards; it was great.

I never quite thought of it that way. Besides about 4 bands, the others are pretty folkish and slow so I think the crowd should be rather still.. but I'll still take that into consideration. : p

First concert experience was in 6th grade at a Phish concert. I was basically in over my head as far as music and experiences go (my brother, ten years older than I, brought me), so I was a bit uncomfortable, but it was still a really memorable and cool experience.

I'm in love with The Strokes and am tooootally jealous that you get to see them. Favorite Strokes song? Jeez....they're all my favorite. I'd have to go with either Automatic Stop or Someday!!!
