      I did it!

After 6 weeks of some hardcore training I finally had a lucid dream two nights ago. One of my dream sign targets triggered the instant realization that I was dreaming (oddly, without me doing a reality check).

The LD was fairly brief, though I managed to control myself after I got lucid and did not wake up immediately, which has happened to me once before. But the dream was unstable and I tried to gain control by doing some of the techniques recommended in LaBerge's text (spinning, focusing on hands). They kind of worked, but the dream kept destabilizing and I woke up after about a minute.

I didn't get to achieve the task I've been planning on doing, but I did get to see some beautiful, amazing jungle/waterfall scenery in vivid detail! This has definitely got my motivation up

Great job buddy!! It's an awesome feeling isn't it? oh, and the thing about reality checks is usually we become lucid BEFORE the RC, the RC just helps to solidy the fact that we're dreaming.
      Lucid dreams, gotta love em.

Elucive said it all, usually you don't become lucid with a reality check, you just use them to ensure you're actually dreaming. Congrats!

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Thanks everyone! The Dreamviews support has definitely played a huge part in my progress =)

It feels awesome to know I'm on the right track but I know I still have a lot of work to do.

Also, I'm curious to hear what you guys think about this. I experimented with piracetam a little bit for lucid dreams. This LD I had occurred the night after I discontinued taking piracetam... I wrote about it in this post (stopping piracetam for LDs).

It could be a coincidence since I have been training pretty intensely, or maybe something is going on?

Congratulations. I'm envious but in a good way.
As children we believe anything is possible. As adults, we need to remember it.
