I think the key is to not get too engaged right off the bat. The process should be slow and steady. A year ago I tried lucid dreaming, I started doing all these ridiculous relaxation techniques before bed, keeping dream journals, reality checking every minute, trying to WILD after going to bed every night, waking up to try and WILD again, etc. Needless to say, I got frustrated and overwhelmed and quit fairly soon after (although I did manage to get one lucid dream for about 3 seconds). Now, I'm starting again, and instead of going gung ho, I'm just taking it easy. I keep a dream journal and do some reality checks, as well as come to the site and try to keep LDing on my mind, but other than that I haven't changed anything. When you start something new like that, it allows your body and mind to adapt to it without stress since you are only adding something new to your life without taking things away at the same time. After you get a feel for it, and get into it more, then start stepping up to the more advanced techniques. Until then, just try a dream journal and a bit of Rcing throughout your day, I'm sure you'll find it far more manageable and you'll be way less disappointed if it doesn't work.
Plus, the lack of frustration will probably lead to an LD even quicker anyways.
