No results so i'm giving up :(

I've been trying to lucid dream for 3 weeks now, i'm keeping a dream journal which is really interesting and i love it but after 3 weeks of RCing and telling myself i will lucid dream i just cant be bothered anymore! I've lost my motivation, if i had just 1 lucid dream it would motivate me to keep it up but the closest i've come to lucidity is when i had a dream in which i RC'd but it failed and i continued dreaming as normal! I guess im an impatient guy, please does anyone have any motivational tips or tricks, or anything that will lead to quick lucidity!? I really dont want to give up but i cant keep my motivation! I'm not stressed or anything really, i'm just losing interest - help!!

Overstressing will definitely not help. Pull yourself together, it's only been three weeks! After all, some people take months to have their first one; I know a guy who kept going for half a year and then finally had a really good lucid.

Are you practicing awareness? Mindless, habitual, automatic RCs don't do much, and neither do dream signs unless you're aware enough to notice them in the first place. Really question whether you could be dreaming.

Once you become aware that you're dreaming, reality checks will follow. Reality checks themselves don't usually induce lucid dreams, but they're more of a confirmation that you're dreaming, so you don't fall off a building or try to fly out the window.

      Good luck, don't give up!

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

to motivate yourself, just think of all the possibilities that lucid dreaming has to offer. living a game or book. flying around. freedom. doing anything you ever wanted.

try switching your techniques around or, if you do that already, then stick with techniques for longer. try and be creative and maybe even think of your own techniques.

Three weeks, kiddo? Try ten years and then come and tell me you're giving up!

Look, if you're a little tired of it all you may be served by taking a break from it and getting back to it in a couple of weeks. Of course you run the risk of losing any momentum you have already built. Are you keeping a dream journal and remembering dreams every day?

I think the key is to not get too engaged right off the bat. The process should be slow and steady. A year ago I tried lucid dreaming, I started doing all these ridiculous relaxation techniques before bed, keeping dream journals, reality checking every minute, trying to WILD after going to bed every night, waking up to try and WILD again, etc. Needless to say, I got frustrated and overwhelmed and quit fairly soon after (although I did manage to get one lucid dream for about 3 seconds). Now, I'm starting again, and instead of going gung ho, I'm just taking it easy. I keep a dream journal and do some reality checks, as well as come to the site and try to keep LDing on my mind, but other than that I haven't changed anything. When you start something new like that, it allows your body and mind to adapt to it without stress since you are only adding something new to your life without taking things away at the same time. After you get a feel for it, and get into it more, then start stepping up to the more advanced techniques. Until then, just try a dream journal and a bit of Rcing throughout your day, I'm sure you'll find it far more manageable and you'll be way less disappointed if it doesn't work.

Plus, the lack of frustration will probably lead to an LD even quicker anyways.

I have been lucid dreaming all my life and believe me, normal dreams are nothing compared to that. Even just passive lucidity (i.e. sticking with the dream plot just knowing you are asleep w/ only altering a few things) as I used to do most of the time is much better than anything you have ever dreamed.

Actually, I think you are overstressing yourself. When I first joined this (like 16 days ago?) wanting to experience more, I was worried overthinking it would make me stop LDing...at the night I joined, I had a DILD and wrote it down afterwards and then I wouldn't get one until today.

The only "trick" I can think about is that you take it easy. LDing might be a skill, but it's one you need to feel your way though (for most people)

Other than that, have you tried setting your alarm clock to wake you up in the middle of your sleep, then falling asleep again? That might help.

Three weeks? You've gotta be kidding. It took me 5-6 weeks to get my first lucid. Everyone learns at different rates. You never know when your next lucid is going to be. But even if it takes 10 weeks, never give up because its well worth it. I do it because its awesome and I'm bored half the time. Its so random, you never know whats going to happen next. Its not like a video game. Its like having millions of people controlling your dream at the same time. Giving up on lucid dreaming is like giving up on staying fit. 3 weeks and only lost 1 pound. Trust me it gets better the more you do it.

Once you get your first, they start coming more frequently, and you can do some fantastical things. Just hold on. I'm a natural lucid dreamer so i don't know what alot of people go through, but i know that lucid dreaming is worth taking time for. I even had one last night. I have them at least once a week. Keep trying. TRY TRY TRY TRY TRY. RC

I had my first LD somewhere around a week after I heard of it.. (Not encouraging I know)...

But, I heard somewhere if you rely on techniques so much (DILD and WILD) then your not trying to LD your actually focused on just trying to do the techniques...

Look at the definition of LDing and then try it.. : "To become aware in a dream"... Be more aware in real life and then try LDing

I saw this guy's videos.. Two of them really stuck out to the topic I'm talking about.. He really gave me some ideas...

      Part 6

      Part 7

BTW.. The guy that made the video is the creator of the website: Lucidipedia.. Hope I helped
