      Frustrated? I got answers.

Hey DV. I wanted to let all of you beginners know that if you have ANY questions about lucid dreaming, especially DILDs and WILDs I will be more than happy to give you some advice over the private message system. I've been LDing for 7 years and have compiled quite a bit of personal experience. I don't claim to know it all but I am interested in encouraging struggling LDers and give them the extra kick. This isn't any type of adoption program, I am merely interested in helping.

Personal Exp: WILDs (60+) DILDs (60+) Reading (most-all of DV lol)
      Strengths: WILD, DILD,
Weaknesses: Dream Control (I'm decent), Dream Recall (again decent)

Please PM if you have any questions

      Cheers, - Jamal!

For WILDing, how do I make the transition from conscious to dream conscious without falling asleep? I want to try this afternoon, so any tips?

WILD help would be nice. Such as: Finding the right amount of time to stay awake, how to stay aware and conscious, getting past sleep paralysis (transitioning).

I don't have "the answers" which implies either some sacred answers from the gods or a detailed scientific method... I have neither. I have "answers". My "answers" could be complete bullshit. Take what you will...

-For reality checks... My reality check consists of two steps. 1. Attempt to push finger through my opposite palm or stare at my hands. 2. look around at my surroundings and check for stability. Is everything perfectly solid? Are the laws of the universe visually stable?

-Don't smoke drugs (not an accusation)

      -Learn meditation. Learn it well.

-More awareness in life means more awareness in dreams, which makes it a lot easier to realize you're dreaming.

Jamal has helped me by pointing out things in my RCs and so on. It doesn't mean he can give you direct answers (Who can?), but he can offer a different perspective... Which actually is bit like scientific method, if you think Jamal as your opponent in friendly scientific debate. :-D

      Sorry for late response.
Try this tutorial I swear by http://www.dreamviews.com/f79/mind-a...utorial-42271/
When you get to the point past sleep paralysis, just try to picture a dream scene. That's what I do during nap WILDs...

If that's not the case, make sure not to block the sleep paralysis from your thoughts. In fact it's a lot safer to ride it out... Pay attention to it and let it take you to the end.

When I do morning WILDs I try not to stay awake at all. When I wake up I think to myself "I'm about to enter a dream" then I get in the most comfortable position I can and focus on the thought of lucid dreaming. I use this thread --- http://www.dreamviews.com/f79/mind-a...utorial-42271/ to reach sleep paralysis. The best way to get through sleep paralysis is to observe and let it take you on it's "ride", which can be hard at times because it can be a very terrifying experience. After sleep paralysis is over you should be able to picture a dream scene, or slowly open your eyes. Even if it doesn't "work" do a reality check.

The thing about the WILD is that it's not a very logical process and mostly occurs in states in between reality and dream. For that reason it is hard to explain and is usually best learned through practice. Try as much as you can during daytime naps, and in the morning. Experiment with times. Find what's right for you... Let me know if theres anything else specifically that you need help with!
      Cheers,
      -Jamal

Gonna try this next weekend (my work schedule is hectic), but you nailed my exact issue: getting to sleep paralysis. I tried about 4 times this weekend with 3 WBTBs and 1 nap. I appreciate your help, and I'll post my results.

Jamal, tried to WBTB after 4 hours, lied in bed, but I evidently wasn't alert enough to SP/WILD. I woke up a few more times naturally, tried to WILD yet again. Any idea what I am doing wrong? Last weekend, I tried to WBTB and stayed up for 30 minutes, and I was too alert, so I need to stay under 15 minutes awake, I'd wager, but I am still messing up.

Also, any tips on making DILD a habit in dreams?

I did what you basically did this morning. Woke up at 4:30 with the intention of WILDing, fell asleep, woke up again at 6:00 and fell asleep, then woke up naturally twice, once at 7:30 then again around 8:30. And fortunately, I had a DILD in that one hour period between 7:30 and 8:30.

Congrats on your DILD! I may have to work on getting my DILD up to snuff so I can fall back on that when WILDing fails.

Thanks. That's my third one in the past 2 months. I want to WILD though, I hear they are extremely vivid and life-like, if you stabilize and get a good dream going.

All advice I've been given states don't worry about SP; worry about going to sleep. Focusing on anything will make it harder to sleep. Instead use anchors to maintain consciousness while you fall asleep, the rest will happen.

The problem for me is maintaining that consciousness while I fall asleep (at night, it happens super fast).
