      Meditation necessary ?

      So I remember reading somewhere that Meditation is a vital thing needed to successfully lucid dream. Not just fore WILDS but also for DILDs etc.

      So anyone have experience with Mediating and LDs?

      Needed? Not needed at all, it might help for some people, but it isn't a need. I'm not big on meditation, so thats all I can say.

      I wouldnt say it is needed either. It does help because of its awareness expansion property. So if you want an extra boost, do it.

      Maybe, maybe not. It really depends on how you're feeling! I know from experience stress kills lucidity. And not just lucidity, but regular dreams and dream memory too.

      The most important thing is to fall asleep relaxed. And if you can fall asleep relaxed and happy, even better. You'll have more vivid and funner dreams that way, which increases the chances for DILDs.

      it depends what you mean by meditation really. if you mean the passive sitting down type then not really although it can be useful. anything you do to increase awareness or to help you lucid dream is a type of meditation though. these active types are much better i believe. i think the passive type of sitting meditation should perhaps be used ony once you can actually get somewhere with it. thats a bad explanation..... i mean once you have done enough active meditation that you can still your mind, or even perform wilds, then the passive sitting meditation will be far more useful

      Definitely helps and would recommend it, but it's not something you have to do. I only recommend it because it helps me feel better. Not sure if it gives me more lucid dreams though.

      I agree with this - assuming meditation is simply following your thoughts in one way or another, the 'passive' kind is ok for slowing down your thoughts. But for lucid dreaming it can be more useful to know exactly what you are thinking and be able to follow your thoughts as you fall asleep.

      I have been meditating for the past 18 years and i just found out that it can actually be a hinderance to lucidity by promoting dream witnessing which is non participatory as oppose to lucid dream awareness which is participatory...And unless you re enlightened the awareness experienced during and after the meditation is short lived
      I really dont think the mind emptying mechanics of meditation goes very well with lucidity which thrives on highly developed imagination full of fantastic ideas...Needless to say i have been trying to go lucid for the past 3-4 months with no results , so my next stop will be LDS(galantamind) and hopefully i will have my big break

      nakah - I think you're right that being lucid is more dependent on interrupting the series of thoughts involved in a dream than being non-participatory, as you say. Good luck
