      Hypnosis

      Hey guys.

I am looking for an audio file that will hypnotize me to identify when I am dreaming.

Is such a thing out there? Is it successful?

      thanks

There might be...But it won't give results significantly better than auto-suggestion.

OK, what I am looking for is an mp3 that i can listen to before I go to sleep that will help me to become lucid.

Do you know of a good example of this?

Invest your time in mastering a real technique. There's no easy way into lucid dreaming for most people.

I have decided to use affirmations.

Before I go to sleep, I am going to repeat: This time I will remember I am dreaming.
Is there a tried and tested affirmation that i can say to myself throughout the day to help me lucid dream at night?

This won't work. Lucidity is a skill, like riding a bike. Just as affirmations will never teach you to ride a bike, they will never get you into a fully lucid dream.

WILD if you want to lucid dream some time in the near future (please read mzzkc's guide before attempting).

DILD if you want a life-long committment that will probably end in you getting some really interesting dreams but not very many lucid dreams.

MILD if you like saying mantras. But don't expect very many lucid dreams.

Your Wrong, very wrong. This is called MILD and is very successful compared to DILD, which are almost the same thing. Auto Suggestions help obtain lucidity and help me remember my dreams. I'm doing this more often and it's helped me alot. I had 5 dreams in 2 days, 3 lucids hardly tried. Repeated it 2 times about 2 minutes before I fell asleep, doesn't take much.
I suggest Mild every night, helps achieve Lucid Dreams. Wild when you wake up on the weekend.
To answer what you where asking, there are subliminal mp3s posted in the Lucid Aid section I believe. Or you can try Binaural beats such as the Lucid Dream Produced by I-doser.

For every anecdote about someone who's benefited from mantra crap, there's probably 10 people who didn't benefit at all. But you won't hear from them, because they've now given up on lucid dreaming and therefore don't frequent this website.

If you don't know how to lucid dream, no amount of mantras will ever get you there.

LucidInvader: About the Lucid Aid section, the Subliminal Lucid 1 - 3 files, should/can i listen to them during the day, or just before I go to sleep. I am asking this as they are quite long.... and i would have to go to bed quite a bit earlier than normal to listen to them before I fall asleep. Also, can you explain what the 'Subliminal Recall' file does?

The same way the stories about people who've failed are anecdotes.

IMO, hypnosis isn't any better than MILD. Awareness has more to do with lucidity than simply self-suggesting it, though, so I suggest you couple it with another tecnique, such as WILD or DILD.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Mild will help you and you should try it, trust me it will help.
You need to listen to them before you fall asleep , you don't have to listen to the entire thing. Just listen to it while thinking about dreaming and I promise it will help.

As Invader said, you don't have to listen to the whole thing, but it is made in sections. Try to listen until you hear a bell ring, which should be a quarter of the way in. Subliminal Recall is meant to aid you in remembering your dreams when you wake up. I haven't actually tried the recall one, but I can only assume that's what it's for.

I am experimenting with two different home-made self hypnosis sessions. The first is taking my dominant brainwave patterns down to 6.5 Hz with the lucid dreaming commands. This has been proven by peer reviewed scientific studies to be the best brainwave entrainment frequency for self hypnosis. The other method is a very clever self hypnosis induction by a hypnotherapist with thirty years experience as a clinical hypnotherapist. When I have some tangible results I will open a thread.

You haven't got a clue about what you are talking about. Hypnosis is far superior to auto-suggestion.

This is a tried and tested method. The affirmation is, "Tonight when I dream I will realise that I am dreaming." Repeat at least 100 times per day. A far more powerful way to use this affirmation is to write it down instead of verbally or mentally speaking it as it builds far more neural pathways. A friend of mine had great success with this after one months use.

Yes they will. Provide some peer reviewed scientific papers that prove that affirmations don't work and we might start taking you seriously. Hey you are a human being like me with feelings and I see that you have really upset a mod in the last 48 hours because of your lack of knowledge. I don't mean to come across as being harsh but I have been studying hypnosis for nearly twenty five years and I know what Im talking about.

The important aspect of this method is relaxation.

Make sure you are very relaxed while listening to the subliminals.

Where are YOUR peer-reviewed papers? We can both play that game. In fact, since you're the one making the positive claim that "affirmations" work, then the burden of proof is on YOU.

And tell whoever that mod is that they shouldn't get upset when people don't conform to their beliefs, they'll live longer that way.

I'll take that as an admission that you have no peer-reviewed papers to back up anything that you've said. Thanks for confirming.

Here you are punk (an inexperienced young person).

HYPNOSIS TO MANAGE DISTRESS RELATED TO MEDICAL PROCEDURES: A META-ANALYSIS

Julie B. Schnur, Ilana Kafer, Carolyn Marcus, and Guy H. Montgomery

Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, USA. Address for correspondence: Dr Julie B. Schnur, Department of Oncological Sciences, Box 1130, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, 1425 Madison Avenue, New York.

      Abstract

This meta-analysis evaluates the effect of hypnosis in reducing emotional distress associated with medical procedures. PsycINFO and PubMed were searched from their inception through February 2008. Randomized controlled trials of hypnosis interventions, administered in the context of clinical medical procedures, with a distress outcome, were included in the meta-analysis (26 of 61 papers initially reviewed). Information on sample size, study methodology, participant age and outcomes were abstracted independently by 2 authors using a standardized form. Disagreements were resolved by consensus. Effects from the 26 trials were based on 2342 participants. Results indicated an overall large effect size (ES) of 0.88 (95% CI = 0.57–1.19) in favour of hypnosis. Effect sizes differed significantly (p < 0.01) according to age (children benefitted to a greater extent than adults) and method of hypnosis delivery, but did not differ based on the control condition used (standard care vs. attention control).

Ignoring all previous posts, I see that no one has actually helped with his original inquisition.

      [software] Paradiso

Download the file called "The Goods".
Inside, you will find 3 (I think) MP3 files which are to be listened to while you fall asleep. They help greatly if you are serious about hypnosis. They are called CurseLucidDreams, because they curse you to Lucid Dreams for the rest of your life. It's a lot less creepy then is sounds.
