      Questions

I can't set an alarm because it will wake my family up. So i'd like to know more about using WILD before you fall asleep for the first time.
1 How long do you need to lay still before the sleep paralysis kicks in?
2 How good is the quality of the dream when u do it this way? Is it really bad or is it no problem?
3 Is it, for a starter like me, a better idea to use DILD only?
4 When using DILD, how long will it take before i get my first lucid dream? (are we talking days, weeks or months? Rough estimations or you own experiences will do)

I know it's quite a lot questions. No need to answer them all, though it would be nice. Either way, thanks for the help already

PS. I started yesterday and I'm keeping a dream journal.

1: It's all individual. Only way to know this is to try it out. It is harder to not lose consciousness though when you do it at night, as you're often tired.
2: The dream quality will be worse and it won't be as stable. If you do it after 6 hours or sleep, the dream will be more stable as you practicly enter REM right away.
3: Do you wake up at all during the night or morning? If you do, then you can always try a WBTB. It doesn't have to be very long. With intentions and mantra's you're MILD'ing.
4: This is all individual. If you focus alot on lucid dreaming and do reality checks all day long. You might have one tonight. Or it might take a few weeks.

Can't you even use a vibrating cellphone as an alarm? Put the phone in your pillow and you won't wake anyone up. Just focus on lucid dreaming and you will most likely have one soon. Set up goals and daydream about achieving them. Good luck!

      ^Everything Matte said.
Also, try and use autosuggestion to wake yourself up during the night.
