Preparing to get lucid, several days ahead

      Hi!

I, like many others, have a demanding job that requires me to get up early, and only get a few hours of sleep each night during the week. I try to sleep 7 hours each night, but this is barely enough for me to have more than two dreams, and to get lucid during those puny fragments of dreams? I think not.

It has happened though, but it is very rare, so basicly I realised that my chances of becoming lucid during the week isn't the greatest, and I started focusing on weekends instead. All week long I would go do RC's, some mantra work before bed (but not much) and meditate. Plan what I would do on Friday or Saturday when I intended to become lucid and it usually works!

Does anyone do the same? Since I rely on becoming lucid one or two nights a week, if I fail, I get very disappointed and might be disheartened. This is why I haven't recommended this technique to any new people, but who knows?

So, feedback please. Have you tried this? Did it work?

      Keep on dreaming!

Well, the majority of my lucid dreams happened 2 years ago when I just started. So about 16-18 of them.
And all of that was because of what you're describing.

Through the whole week, I'd be telling myself in my head all these things. Just constant auto-suggestion (mantras), and RCing and stuff.

So basically, yea, it's pretty darn effective. At least on me anyways. But it takes effort. I was literally thinking about it constantly in my waking life, and as I fall asleep too.

True, it takes effort, I've had a slow but steady progress when it comes to LD'ing. I think about it very often during the day, and if i hadn't had the "need" to have thoughts spinning in my head and my hyperactivity, I guess I would get tired of it easily. But I guess the same rule applies to most techniques overall: The more effort you put in, the more results.

I think I might start doing this. I've had the idea of focusing on weekends for a while, and I've had an LD last and last last weekend (but none this weekend, because I stayed up too late). I have school on weekdays so it's difficult for me to even have recall, although I'm improving on this by going to bed earlier and doing WBTB. But I do aim to have LDs on weekends more than I do on weekdays. I might start preparing myself with this method during the week.
