For me the process is the same every night, doesn't often give lucids but I can very reliably remember 4 or 5 dreams a night:
-First I get my DJ and write the date and put it besides my bed with a pen, I also record the time so I can see how far into my sleep my cycles end.
-Next I recount the events of the day in my mind, I find it helps to get me in a rememberish mood.
-I go to sleep while constantly going over the thought of waking up after each dream and remembering it, I change the wording each time so that its not just completely mindless.
-When I wake up I first lay still and go over my dream in my head, once I have it clear in my head I check the time and record my dream as quick notes in my DJ.
-After I wake up for the final time I will go over the notes and write up the dreams fully.
This is usually effective for me. Although I guess different things work for different people the key is to experiment with different things until you find something that works.
