Wondering what the consensus is about the sleeping body...

      Hi.

Recently I've seen conflicting opinions on this, and I just wanted to clarify. Some people say that thinking of your sleeping body whilst in an LD will wake you, whilst others say it can keep you focused.

Personally, all four of my LDs have been induced when suddenly I see an image of being in bed at the very back of my mind after a WBTB, this is the failsafe way that I become lucid. Now though, I'm pondering whether this is in fact shortening them.

If seeing the sleeping body is positive, is there a technique I can use to make it happen more often (other than RCs.) If the sleeping body is a negative sign, what should I do to remain lucid when LDs are induced that way?

Kind Regards and thanks in advance.

You seeing an image of your sleeping body is a hallucination your mind is creating. Looking at that hallucination isn't going to cause a problem. The problem comes when you make a connection to your actual body with your dream body (start feeling the bed underneath you, hearing actual noise from real life, etc). If your mind becomes too focused on your sleeping body it can cause stability issues. I had my leg in a bent position when I WILDed one time and toward the end of the dream, it started becoming unstable. I stabilized, but I had nearly woke up and I felt my actual body laying in bed. Once the dream stabilized a bit, my leg was locked in the bent position of my actual body. I eventually got a DC to help me stand, but it ended up locking up again and I awoke. You won't always wake up when you have made a connection, but if there is any sort of sudden sound (a cat/house creak/etc), even if it is relatively quiet it can wake you up. In my experience, it is best to be cut off from your actual body as much as possible. Everyone is different though. I have never heard of thinking about your actual body keeping you focused. I'm not sure how/why that would work...

Yeah,. But that is interesting a bit, a bit like there being some sort of code or something , some very small thing to induce LD's.
