      Attaining Lucidity Easier After First Lucid Dream

      A couple days ago I had my first prolonged lucid dream (DILD), but unfortunately it was kind of a "bust" in the sense that I didn't really accomplish anything that I wanted to.

      From a lot of my reading I seem to get the impression that in lucid dreams, people suggest taking a "lucidity pill" or announcing that they will have a lucid dream every time they sleep.

      Does this work? Are there actually techniques that can be done inside of a dream that can program your body to "naturally" lucid dream?

      It seems like the title of the thread and your description are different, unless I'm misunderstanding. Responding to the title, the first time I tried having lucid dreams (a few years ago) I had my first 3 weeks or so after starting to try. And from then on it was an instant 2 or 3 per night. But now, I've been getting maybe one every couple weeks, and having the first one didn't seem to increase my chances. So I guess the answer is that it's true in some cases, not in others.

      I've never tried it but I'm sure it could work. I think I'll try that next time I'm lucid.

      Let me know how this works. As I said, I'd read about it somewhere but obviously have been unable to try it. Naturally I want to make lucid dreaming a "natural" occurrence.

      And to clear up any confusion, the question is really about that. What can you do in a lucid dream, if anything, to make lucid dreams more frequent?

      I thought of this a while ago. I'm really interested to see if it would work and I'm going to try it next time I have a lucid dream.

      Dream's are based ENTIRELY, well almost, on expectation and belief. If you expect that lucidity pill to expand your dream time, then it will.
