NEW! Technique - Discipline Inuced Lucid Dream!?

I thought about this and it works for me so maybe you can try it? o.o
this is how i came about it:
one day like 3 weeks ago, i was going to a shop to get a milkshake, as i was going there i decided to take the long way around to the shop instead of the short way, and decide that i will 'discipline' myself into lucid dreaming tonight, i took the long way around, then walked the long way back, holding a freezing milkshake, that very night i lucid dreamed! . so basicly you just discipline yourself more on daily basis in things you dont like doing (like getting out of bed to feed your cat, or getting up in the middle of the night [which could be a combined wbtb) ! . see? it worked for me and i hope it works for you. and if someone already figured this out then i'm not suprised lol.

Well, what works works I guess However, did this work once or multiple times? Cuz i don't see how this works, and it might just have been a coincidence. Hope it works all the time though

Yeah, I will not try anything that you only tried once.

I think this is more of an awareness factor that induced the lucid dream. This is a good thing though, awareness is excellent in causing lucid dreams. The actual act of self-discipline assists in becoming more aware of what you are doing and why you are doing it. One of the Dream Guides here at DV does something kind of similar (Puffin).

not a new technique, somebody went as far as shocking themselves slightly in the morning if they didnt go lucid. discipline and reward induced techniques have been around for a while.

Well.. i think it works by.. when you do something you dont want to do, combined with the intention of this inducing a lucid dream, makes or forces your subconscious mind to give into the wish?. somewhere online it says something like that?
      thanks for the replies

Yeah, I have read about a technique that consists of punishing yourself, often physically, everytime you don't gain lucidity.

Honestly, it could have just been a placebo effect. Maybe it worked because you thought it would work? Perhaps jumping on your toes would have had the same effect on you had you truly believed that it would work as much as you believed that your technique would work.
If you repeatedly report success with this technique, then maybe you are on to something....

So did this person get to a point where he could have LDs regularly? Was his/her method effective?

it helped them become lucid more often than they already could (not regularly though), but mostly it was just the mindset that caused the lucidity (the shock is just a mere slap on the wrists associating it with the thoughts of becoming lucid), I would suggest and advise that if you do use this method (the shocking one) you look into it a little more beforehand.

anything out of the ordinary that happens your mind will remember and if you assosiate it with LD, then your mind will also rememebr that, so it should help alot to gain lucidity. ususally when i spend 20-30m b4 bed just thinking about lucid dreaming id have 2-3 LD that night
