Angry I still cant lucid.... ARRRRRGGGGGGGGGGG

Ive been trying for almost a year now! Ive attempted WILDS more than i need to, I cant remember to reality check, and I cant even remember my own dreams 90% of the time! I have always been calm but now im paranoid! ( AND WHILE IM TYPING MY DOG IS HUMPING MY BROS LEG AND MY BRO LIKES IT!!!)
Anyway what should I try? I have tried really hard, Ive read many post on dreamviews and the closest I could get to a LD was a Wild attempt, but I only went through the tunnels and woke up. can anyone help?

      1. It has been stated multiple times that WILD is the HARDEST METHOD, let me repeat that, the HARDEST METHOD of attaining lucid dreams. Why have you been trying that first, and persisting for close to a year?
      2. Are you keeping a persistent dream journal every night and writing down every detail you can recall?
      3. Who cares about the dog? How does that even relate to your question?
      4. If you can't remember to do RC's try setting an alarm, or re-check your motivation.

*sigh* now that I am over my peeve, here are a few ideas:

      1. When waking up, don't move or even open your eyes. This will keep the dream fresh in your head and help you to recall things better. Go through the dream a few times, then when you are ready get up and write it down (not as effective if woken by an alarm)
      2. Have enthusiasm, excitement. If things become too frustrating you won't get far.
      3. If you can't re-boost the excitement, stop trying to lucid dream for a week or two. Forget about it completely for that time. If you are trying too hard, it will act as a counter and actually prohibit you from succeeding (It is what happened with me, in fact. The day after I gave up I had my first).
      4. Make sure you are keeping a hand written dream journal when starting. This appears to be much more effective than any other method. Once you can recall more dreams, feel free to switch.
      5. As for reality checks, these honestly have never worked for me either (Not the whole forming a habit thing, only as double-checks after I am already aware). However, you can look for dream signs in your journal, as these are quite effective. When they appear in real life, do a reality check and it should stick.

      Good luck.

I feel for you, onyxfyre. I am in a similar situation. Trying trying trying and only one semi lucid short dream to show for it, nothing since. BUT. Here is the thing. We are our own worst enemies. You cannot think negatively and say you can't LD. You cannot try too hard. Both of those things will keep you from LDing. I think you should take InsaneKid's advice and just forget about it for awhile. Give yourself a break, try to stop "wanting it" so hard.

Unfortunately, these things come in their own time. Those of us who were born lucid dreamers are very lucky, but a lot of us must be patient and vigilant. First, take a full break from LD, maybe like a week or two, thinking nothing about it. Then, keep in mind that it WILL eventually happen for you, try to increase your waking awareness (KingYoshi has an awesome tutorial on that found here), and make sure to regularly write in your dream journal.
      Hang in there.

Try being positive. Before you fall asleep, say to yourself 10 times:
"I will have a lucid dream tonight and completely remember it when I wake up"
I do that every night, even If I did no RCs or ADA during the day. And NEVER tell yourself you can't do it. That's not going to solve your problem.

      There is no HARDEST METHOD.
It all depends on what you feel most comfortable with.
Instead of trying so hard, you should just convince yourself that it'll happen anytime soon.
1 year? You might just have your first LD tonight.

I would advise the ADA technique (Kingyoshi's thread). Very effective, and not very hard to do

Hey, look at me, I've been working for like 2.5 years and i still cant lucid consistently. In fact, I have barely had any. I feel like as soon as I started using WBTB to try to remember dreams, my recall has been increasing. and that is half the battle for lucid dreaming. Like anything, take a break if it gets too frustrating

It doesn't seem like you are motivated. If you aren't doing reality checks, then DILD is pretty much out. You can't just expect to be great at something (and this goes for anything) if you don't take it seriously and try. Good luck.
