Thoughts on WILDing, Sleep Paralysis, and Getting into It

      Hello all,

Note: these are my observations, not a technique or anything

I'm a student at university so I naturally find myself thinking about WILDing when I wake up. My experience with WILDs are interesting as that I always feel my limbs go numb as one would expect from SP, but I can always move if I try. I can see something like HI but I always fall asleep. That said I guess I'm moving more towards DEILD or WBTB technique to balance things out and make SP achievable.

I've gotten to thinking that the thing to do is to not focus on it as a logical progression and see the HI as the goal. I can see things which I think are HI, it looks like shapes moving across my field of view. But I never get it much past that, which I find interesting. Do you guys feel like theres a movement from HI to the dream? How do you perceive it?

I'm thinking that the issue with my WBTB is that I'm actually getting up, perhaps a DEILD is the better option as it would keep a measure of relaxation in my limbs as it were. What do you think? I've tried many things and have WILDed before, but that was a while ago. What do you guys make of this? I am I failing to get into SP, or am I getting to the HI and missing it because I'm trying to get into SP? Or am I completely insane, and trying too hard?

I can realize when I wake up, but my in dream awareness is lacking.

      Any help is appreciated.

      Draxis

I think you may be trying too hard. Generally, my HI goes something like this....I see blurs/flashes of light. After some light, random objects will begin to appear. After a bit more, my thoughts will soon turn into images and quick scenes (as if I am in a heavy day deam). Finally, the drea, scene begins to form around me (usually it is the same room I fell asleep in). You seem to be getting to the on-set of SP. You will get some brief HI/HH. Here you need to just continue to relax and work toward sleep. If you find that you are crashing out/losing consciousness, you may need to change up your anchor. What technique are you using and what are you using for an anchor. If you don't really have a specific anchor, what exactly is your WILDing method? This will help me get an idea of why you may be struggling.
