      REM Sleep after sleep deprivation?

      Hey guys,

So I have massive amounts of work to do over the period of two days over which I probably will not be getting ANY sleep (thank god it'll be the weekend after that) and I was wondering what effect does total sleep deprivation have on REM sleep. Will I have any REM sleep if I go to sleep the night after the two sleepless days? (And by extension will I be able to dream?)

I've been awake for massive amounts of hours. At one point I was awake for 52 hours. I've noticed that after being awake for at least 24 hours or more, I have extremely vivid dreams that I can recall to minor details. I did not know of Lucid Dreaming at the time so I can't say if it helps with the process or not.

You will have REM sleep, do not worry. Dreams occur in REM sleep so you will dream. You may also have a REM rebound. This means you will have more REM sleep.

Your ability to do any productive work will drop significantly if you don't get any sleep. You will be more productive if you sleep or nap during the 2 days.

I had insomnia for about 3 days one weekend, and it seemed like as I tried to go to sleep, I'd get an almost instant feeling of what seemed like sleep paralysis. It was like I skipped all the stages of normal sleep, and guessing went straight to REM, so yeah, you'll have dreams.
