      The REAL Inception Device

Ok obviously there is no device to share dreams and get into the dream lucid immediately. Not yet anyway ^^
But there is something that can make you have a DILD every night, read my blog if you want to see how it has worked out for me
But anyway the concept of this "technique" is to not focus on how to get lucid, it's rather WHEN to get lucid. I used to wake up from a 6 hour alarm only to fail time after time and I actually had a dryspell for 6 weeks.
Then I started to use an app on my Iphone that is called Smart Alarm Clock, which is designed to registrate my movement and noises during sleep, to calculate in what sleep phase I am in. Then the best part, the alarm wakes me up in the rem-phase because this was apparently the best phase to wake up to feel rested.
However, if I fall asleep again I start dreaming immediatelly and the dream is soo vivid that I sooner or later become lucid! This is just a DILD and the dream is vivid enough to make me lucid. But if I use this alarm or app combined with a DEILD (I use the School of out of body experience method) the dream becomes HYPER LUCID as I like to call it. Now the dream feels like more than reality!

I hope that all of the smart phone users who want a lucid dream, reads this!
Because this was the way that I ended my dryspell and got on a streak!
On every attempt so far since I started using this, I have got atleast one lucid dream!
I am currently pracctising on stabilizing the dream when it's a DILD, because that is the easiest way, but if that don't work to get the hyper feeling then I will start with DEILD, because that realistic feeling is the best in the world!

And if you wonder what alarmsound I use the answer is none.
I use the vibbrate sound on my desk and that is enough to wake me up in rem apparently.

This is as I said before obviously not a device that works like the one in the Inception movie, but if you think about it, what happens if you can find the perfect time to wake up in the rem-phase? it's easier to WILD, DILD, DEILD, FILD, MILD and what ever technique you may want to use

That was all and I hope you get as much success that I did.

      Sweet dreams!

      Chris.

      Good luck Nito
And by the way I set the alarm to wake me up 6 hours later, I don't know if that makes much of a diffrence, but if you sleep less the rem is shorter.

      Thanks mastermind,
I think this will benefit people like me, I haven't been able to wild successfully yet and i think it's because I haven't found the 'sweet spot' for me yet. If this can identify when I'm in REM that's half my battle fought for me =]. Either way, I'm excited =P.

I have that app, what are the alarm settings you use precisely?

I thought the app woke up after REM though...

Is there a similar application for android users?

edit: there is an application called "Lucid Dreaming App" by Alexander Stone, it looks very promising. It evens refers to the application mentioned in the OP and it's free. I'll try it out.

I'd like to quote the world expert on Actigraphy - Avi Sadeh:

There's no scientific evidence that REM state can be determined from actigraphy data alone
This means that the OP's point of waking up in REM on the basis of sound and movement is primarily due to luck and good timing on his part. That app would wake you up in "light" sleep stages, which may be anything! It may wake you up before REM, after REM or during REM. This is completely dependent on the kind of sleeper you are!

Ok for me anyway this wakes me up perfectly timed everytime if I set it to wake me up 6 hours later.
Then I can only hope that it works for someone else : )

I don't see how you can tell if someone's in REM by their movements and sounds.

You know what would be cool?
Have your phone somehow propped up to be looking at your face, stream it to some sort of server, on here probably, and then someone teams up with you who will be awake when you're asleep to call your phone when you enter REM lol

Probably would be difficult but would be awesome to give someone a lucid.

Yeah .. the app wakes you up in the light sleep but after 6 hours it's before your rem and for me that makes me dream immediatelly.

But if you go to the settings tab I use:
      Sensitivity: Maximum
      Tap Sound: Off
      24-hour clock mode: On
      And make sure to calibrate
I use fullmode and no matter what time I go to bed I set the alarm to wake me 6 hours later, but the alarm changes that time a bit depending on my sleep.
      Sound:
      Chillout: None
Wake-up: None (Ir vibbrates on my desk and that's enough to wake me up)

Yeah I see now that it sais that it's supposed to wake me up in my light sleep phase, but apparently that works too then
And on the graph there are only three phases REM, Light and Deep and the alarm wakes me up between the light and rem.
And if this is only luck, then I am really lucky because it works every time. :/

      Yeah Keep trying Nito!

The reason to way I decided to make a new thread and share this was because this alarm was what ended my dryspell! I was pracctising the School of out of body experience method for a while and failed on every attempt.
Then I started to use this alarm for some reason and got 3 hyper lucid dreams in a row, then I stopped using that alarm because I told myself that I was going to do exactly as it was written in the book (and the alarm was my idea).
And here I got no lucid dreams or even vivid dreams for 6 whole weeks!
Then I thought about what went wrong and saw on my blog that my results had somehow had a connection to when I used that "Smart Alarm Clock"
and then I got a lucid dream on the first try and it was super vivid.
Last night I realised that that alarm times perfectly with my sleep phases so I wake up 1 h and 30 minutes before I need to get up, so it's perfect for DEILD and especially the School of out of body experience method.

I really hope that this alarm helps someone else

I think tbh I still have the same problem, it's probably to do with my timings! You say about 1h 30mins before you get up? I may try again using this time as a guide-line and just trial and error. I've never successfully WILD'd myself, I get my HH but no SP.

But basically anything that can help me break that first WILD barrier I'm grateful for. I Dno if its my technique that's off or just lack of practise (guessing the latter) but SOON!! Hehe.
Thanks for your support aswell mastermind!

No wait I go to bed 10 pm and the alarm wakes me up 6 hours later so around 4 then I fall back to sleep and if I affirm to notice my next awakening I wake up 1 h and 30 minutes before I have to get up.
But I ALLWAYS set the alarm to wake me up 6 hours later, with the 1 h and 30 I only ment that, that's the time I have to lucid dream, because my next NATURAL awakening then is about 5.30 and I get out of bed 6.30.

With the School of out of body experience method my problem was to never wake up at all to try it out, but with this alarm it has helped me to notice my next awakening way earlier

and about the HH and SP, try to not start out your pracctise with traditional WILD because it's soo hard!
But if you DEILD you will feel strong vibbrations and hear weird sounds that you will not even question if you are in sleep paralysis, because you are then in the dream!

I used to pracctise traditional WILD too, but it took to long time and I was feeling uncomfortable the whole time and I got really warm, and then the dream experience asn't that vivid and now I just DEILD or DILD in 5 seconds and don't have to waste my time and emotions on the awake part.

Well it worked for me last nigt mastermind! I managed to get lucid after the alarm! Infact I had several false awakenings, which I have never experienced before, freaky freaky things! Lol. But each time I realised I was lucid it didn't last long, excitement got the best of me. I think that's because after my very first lucid I've had a really bad dry spell. It was probably more relief than excitement but I'll get working on my stabilisation techniques!

      No way! Well done
And doesn't it feel nice to know that all you have to do is to use an app and not even do much yourself ? xD Even if this app doesn't wake up in rem this seem to work !
Try to get those short lucid dreams for some time now just to get used to the dream environment and then start to figure out how to make the experience last longer.
That's what I am doing now and the way that I have found to be the best, is to touch everything you see and scream "I am dreaming" and rubbing your hands is also very good. But how was the vividness of the lucid dream? Did it felt exactly like reality or even more ? Because with DILD my dreams are pretty vivid, but with DEILD my lucid dream feels like reality !

I hope to see more results from you and hopefully more people!

      =] thanks mastermind,
To be honest, I utilised the apps statistics part. Used the data from the last few days to study my rem cycle and set it to a better time for me, for some reason about 3:30am.
I know The data isn't perfect on accuracy but it's better than nothing.
My dreams were vivid but blurry at times, but to be honest I was kind of baked! So that may have had something to do with clarity, I don't know. But am looking forward to tomorrow morning! =].

This is doesn't allways work of course. But the interesting thing is that this app made me have 3 hyper lucid dreams in 3 days in a row. And last week 5 normal vivid lucid dreams in a row.
Last night I were out so I were too tired so no attempt this night.

I set it to wake me up after ~6 hours. After those few hours of sleep I can normally never get out of bed. The app just happened to wake me up at a point that left me fresh and I couldn't sleep again.
Am I meant to press the STOP button when the alarm sounds or should I just lay still with eyes closed when waking up?
